The reason so many ships still to this day use pink for their toilets and sinks is because of a bacteria that is very common on ships, Serratia marcescens a pink colored bacteria that leaves a pink film on the surface they're growing on. Thus the toilets etc. are pink so that they're harder to spot.

Thanks for this video!  We watched while waiting to drive on with our new Volvo that we picked up in the factory in Gothenberg.  These ferries have been one of the delights of our travels here.  We rode on both the Viking and the Serenade and preferred the Serenade, although fares on Viking were lower.  Both lines have dated ships, but the rooms were clean, and my wife who is very picky didn't complain!  On the Viking hop from Mariehamn to Helsinki we got the Anchor deck level and despite some fears of being down with the ballast, had no issues.  Our room was 2077 so very close to where you stayed.  Actually like having a room with no windows because it's easy to achieve total darkness.  When we were on the Serenade we paid up to get on a higher level (still no windows) but in hindsight would have been happy to save the money and go back to Anchor.  We both slept really well on both ships!

Done this journey multiple times and you did a great job summing up the experience. Gabriella is my favourite of the Viking and Tallink vessels and that spot on the bow at deck 12 is just perfection as you navigate the archipelago.

I think the price you paid was not per person but per cabin, so it would have been a total of €87, or €21.75 per person, if you had had three friends with you in that cabin. Not so spacious though.

Don't really recommend going to these cruises. They have been thoroughly culturally enriched now and a lot of women are being raped.

Watched Mark's video first and was very impressed by the Silja Serenade although the food he chose did not look so good. I looked at the menus and as a vegetarian did not see much I would eat. His ship was nicer than the Gabriella I think but to be honest your trip was far better value and the food looked nicer. The views as you left Stockholm were stunning.
