Having 10 forgettable characters from each race and no playable Sonia or Ganondorf in Age of Imprisonment feels like an insane design choice. Making Ganon playable in Age of Calamity over Astor also felt weird.

Your explanation and reasoning for the stories of these two games is exactly how I feel about it. People were so much more invested in the Great Calamity compared to the Imprisoning War. Maybe in a different world, Age of Calamity followed botw's canon while Age of Imprisonment did something else and maybe that would've been better. Idk. We're most likely entering a new era for Zelda now, so I have hopes.

Fantastic video. I saw Age of Imprisonment on sale for $58 retail and Age of Calamity on sale for $40 on eshop.
I decided to get Age of Calamity because it seems like it has more content in the base game.

For some reason, the Switch 2 era Nintendo seems to be charging more for games with less content than previous installments (Mario Kart World, Age of Imprisonment, i think even that Mario tennis game).

Anyway, i'm having a blast with Age of Calamity. I may eventually get Imprisonment if it ever goes down to $40 in a couple years.
I also eventually want to play the original Hyrule Warriors as well when that gets a sale.

Another video of yours that I didn't expect to mostly agree with, except that I do not think AoI has a perfectly consistent roster because of the atrocity that is Typhan. I like Charge characters in Musous, I especially love Ryuji in P5S, Guts in the Berserk Musou, and I ADORE the Lance in DW:Origins (every Charge character should just be a clone of the Lance from now on), but Typhan does absolutely nothing with the charge mechanic to actually incentivize charging. Like what, he makes himself vulnerable so he can hit a little harder so it's the same net positive as NOT charging? Usually Charge characters' attacks get significantly bigger as they charge them, but Typhan's attacks stay laughably tiny for musou standards and he doesn't even get super armor to account for having to be so close to anything to deal his abysmal damage, so I can't help but question why he exists at all. One of my new most hated Musou characters, probably because he's the worst execution of an archetype I typically love.

I'm gonna say this though and just say that honestly when I found out that age of imprisonment was coming out I said to myself okay so we're getting another Warriors game but we're back in the breath of the Wild universe again. I thought there was no way that this would be as good or as an improvement as age of calamity and while I will concede and agree that it is better than age of calamity, the thing is the roster was better if we compare the 2 games  and while imprisonment is canon, the fact that I don't care about the playable roster at all aside from Zelda really speaks volumes of I don't really care. At this point I'd rather just say if you wanna play a Zelda Warriors game than play Hyrule Warriors definitive edition because while that game's story was pretty good, it drops the ball after they drop the unique premise of the main villain just to go back to basic Zelda storytelling all over again and while none of the guest characters are used all that great there is no denying the roster is way better, it remembers that it's a celebration for the legend of Zelda series and the massive amount of content that this one game has craps on both age of calamity and age of imprisonment.  So bottom line for me is comparing the 2 ages games if I had to pick, I'd still rather play age of calamity but as a whole I'd rather just play Hyrule Warriors definitive Edition instead.
