Thank you for being one of the few people that addressed the overheating issue on this camera. I was hoping that LeicaI would design a better thermal energy solution then Panasonic. Alas, it seems I will keep waiting for the perfect Leica for my needs.

I have sl2s and thinking this sl3p is good upgrade but I already go to Hasselblad system with the best photo iq as possible
So I think I will stick what I already have unless my sl2s broken one day

The entire conversation around overheating is crucial to me right now. I’m considering between the SL3-S and the SL3-P as a hybrid b-cam to my Sony FX6.

I own a Leica M11 and love it. I’m looking for that same ecosystem for my AF photography and some video work as I need it. One of the main cases is a b-cam for interviews.

On the one hand, I would love the sweet spot megapixels, faster AF, and faster readout of the SL3-P. On the other, the SL3-S doesn’t overheat, has a great sensor, and can be purchased quite a bit cheaper.

That said, the blacked out SL3-S badge with a replacement logo is a lot easier to reverse than chipping out the paint of the SL3-P. 😂

I think I’d be more than happy with the SL3-S but all of the talk around the SL3-P finally being the SL camera worth taking a chance on makes me nervous.

Hey Gajan, nice balanced introduction to the SL3-P! The best one I've seen so far. I personally love the SL lineup and appreciate Leica's continued investment in them! The SL series is so underrated, they are truly phenomenal cameras, much more versatile than the M series. They just serve a different purpose and offer another experience compared to the M series. Sometimes the SL cameras are treated like they're not "true" Leicas (especially by some M users) when historically the original Leica SLR was introduced in 1965 and the first Leicaflex SL was introduced in 1968. The SL series are part of the history and tradition of Leica continued in the digital age. I own the SL2 and it satisfies all my needs as an artistic tool plus it is an absolute joy to use. I still think the SL2/S cameras feel the most solid in the hands although larger and heavier than the SL3/S, and now P. I'll definitely be testing the SL3-P and if I were to get another SL body, it would probably be the one. By the way, the SL3 Reporter you have there is an aesthetic masterpiece.

Would you go with the SL3 P over the Sl3 reporter?  I am a fan of the styling of the reporter but I think the P may be the better choice.

I wonder why the Leica SL cameras do not support 3200k and 5600k white balance standards (instead it's 3.3k and 5.5k). There must be a reason, does anyone know?
