Thanks for sharing the story of your Dad. I recently went through loss and documenting it (respectfully) has been a powerful tool in whatever we call recovery.

Lost my dad 16 yrs ago. As a child I remember vividly playing with his old cameras. Taking pictures now has become a healing tool. I feel closest to my dad when I’m taking snapshots of the grandchildren he never met. I’ve eschewed the latest tech babble for cameras that just get out of the way. the newest Nikons with their manual assist focus abilities have facilitated that. But my absolute favorite camera to shoot is the D700.
I love shooting old cameras and lenses, which is what brought me to your channel. Which in turn exposed me to Lucy Lumen’s channel. You both focus on the experience over the tech.
The fact that you show emotion and connection to the process and experience is INSPIRING! In fact a d200 and Nikon 1 J5 are both sitting in my KEH cart.

I got an used Leica X2 after watching your video (it was the only affordable Leica which made sense for me, as a Sony shooter). Love that little camera and the connection I have with it, as you have mentioned in the video, speaking of which, I absolutely adore your voice. The way you combine the story, specs and the emotions, in a piece of tech's preview video and let your voice carry all that, makes you one of the best content creators out there.

Your last minute or two of talking about your dad — this is why photography means so much to me. It is the emotional connection and the memories attached to the photographs. Your videos always inspire me, Ali! I may not ever have a Leica (poor teacher haha), but I will always watch a One Month Two Cameras video! ❤

I'm always flabbergasted with how much useful information you are able to extract from what must have been a bit of a limited time.. And its always stuff that is impossible to read from a spec sheet... Am I gonna go out and buy a Leica SL3-P.... Nøøøø, but I knew that already jumping into the video :)
I also loved the editing, you had me try to dodge that race car behind my screen, for real!

hi its a nice video . sadly in this mis information age if some one uses ai for something then i ask what other things are ai .. is the script ai? are some of the photos ai? is the music ai? is the voice ai?
and it takes some of the magic out of this grate video. like finding out pro wrestling is pretend its still entertaining but it changes how we see it.
so when you see people complaining about ai. its not hate its broken trust. but you don't owe us anything. thanks for all the videos over the years.

Catching up on your last three or four videos! I'm so excited for you that you were invited  by Leica to review their new camera! I always enjoy your videos, and it's always fun to see what you're using and playing with photographically!

Two points:  I love the fact that you used the camera for its intended design, documenting a pivotal
Moment of your life and 2. That you buy your Leicas used. Everyone complains about how expensive they are but if you buy them used you can pay half and still get incredible quality.   We should all applaud when Leica releases a new camera as it makes the other models cheaper. 😄

Despite how Leica likes to tell the story, there were compact cameras before Barnack’s. The Kodak Brownie was earlier and much more popular. There were also a few 35mm format cameras too. Barnack, Berek and Leica seem to have pioneered a more advanced shutter and lens. These gave the 35mm format a chance since negatives could be enlarged to produce relatively high quality prints.

I purchased a SL3s a few months ago. As I use the M system for along time and wasn’t happy with with the other camera brand I ditched all my digital non-Leica equipment and got me the SL3s with the 24-70 2.8. With this combination in hand it felt like some years ago when I got my first D700… the haptics, the photos … emotional and just kind of gobsmacking. After the D3 and D700 stopped working I went mirrorless.
But it had lost the momentum as I didn’t like those technically sharp but sterile outcomes.
Photographed with the Ms mostly but sometimes missed the speed, the autofocus and the heavier weight.
Then - thanks to David from #leicastoreheidelberg - I grabbed a SL3s in February… and bought it in June. And never regretted! Great haptics, wonderful lenses, great autofocus… got me a #sigma 70-200 2.8 as well. Happy!!!

I have to add a little postscript. Everyone talks about the price of Leica. I only know them by reputation and what others say. I’m glad that they are committed to doing things with quality in mind and not being swayed by the market. There is not much of that thinking left.
