Many scenes are from the 1927 German SciFi movie “Metropolis”. It’s a great old movie.

The footage is a classic silent from the 1920's. The movie's name is "Metropolis" by the amazing director Fritz Lang.

This is probably the most prophetic song ever written. 🇬🇧

Kudos to listening to this one. It was a pretty big hit. It still has a kick today. Zager & Evans didn't have much of a career after this one.
Sidenote: the film clips shown are from the amazing classic METROPOLIS ( 1927), still relevant today

This song and "Spirit in the sky" are two of the best one-hit wonders of the 60's

When the moon landing happened, I was on the other side of the world. Same for Woodstock. Welcome home. iykyk.
Pairing this song with this old SciFi movie footage is one of the better video ideas.

The images in the video is from one of my favorite films. The 1927 silent classic "Metropolis"

Zager & Evans were an American rock-pop duo active during the late 60's-70's. This futuristic song "In The Year 2525" was their biggest hit in 1969 so they are often classified as a one-hit wonder.

I think it's quite genius to spread out the centuries between each new revelation in the lyrics. If they did "2025, 2035, 2045", people would be saying 'yeah, right haha'. And it also made it feel more safe to predict such a futuristic thing back then, and wouldn't make anyone freak out about anything like that happening 'soon'

I was 11 when this song came out. My big brother would laugh every time it came on the radio. "How stupid," he would say. The song frightened me. I used to have end of the world dreams.

I invited my younger cousin to listen to this song with me. I had heard it years ago as a teenager.
Now, what I didn't know was that my cousin was high. I think I scarred the young man for life.

George Orwell's 1984 is a dystopian novel about Winston Smith, a man living in the totalitarian state of Oceania, ruled by the Party and its omnipresent leader, Big Brother. Winston works at the Ministry of Truth, altering historical records to fit the Party's ever-changing narrative. He secretly rebels by keeping a diary and beginning a forbidden affair with Julia, but they are eventually caught, tortured, and broken by the Thought Police. The novel is a cautionary tale about the dangers of totalitarianism, mass surveillance, and the manipulation of truth and language. We are here...
