More layoffs!? Selling cents worth of cardboard for hunderds of dollars just isn't a high enough profit margin, huh?

@SkarlaG 2 days ago

Because the bundles are delayed. My whole reality fracture pre-order is delayed. I probably won't get it until mid October with delivery at this rate, weeks before star trek.
They can't even keep up with their own release schedule.

If they're so hellbent on saving costs in order to increase profitability, how about getting rid of the dead weight and failure product lines first instead of gutting the only profitable division in the entire company? Hasbro has the goose that lays golden eggs, and they want to starve that goose because keeping it properly fed means SLIGHTLY less profits in the here and now? Don't be surprised if it eventually starves to death and there are no more eggs, Hasbro.

MY LAYOFFS HURT

4:18 - "He lets you draw cards for the number of different colors among artifacts you control." My 1995 self is DYING to this statement because I deliberately remember a time when there were NO colored artifacts printed in the entirety of Magic. Sometimes, keeping things more simple really IS the best decision. Oh well... WotC will surely learn before they destroy Magic, right?

...

Right?

Reminds me of the return of Toys R' Us. New stores opening with a focus on the nostalgia of "Adult" kids, with higher end collectibles.

Hasbroke killed the goose that laid the golden eggs. They're in the process of gutting it to get the last egg out.

Corporate greed is everywhere! They would replace every human if they can to get more money

I don’t think the number of legendaries is a commander thing this time around, it’s a Universes Beyond thing. The Universes Within sets have been having Legendary counts in the 20’s, including precon legendaries, while the UB sets have hundreds…most of which are HORRENDOUS commanders. But because they keep picking IPs that are focused on individual characters, the only way to make a whole set is to have 5 versions of Spiderman or most of the creature roster being characters so that fans don’t go “but where is x character, he’s my favorite!”. I mean was anybody really hoping to have the Abomination with mayhem as their commander, since mayhem only works when discarded?

I keep thinking one of these days it is going to be GOOD news in Magic... but I have given up hope at this point!

Novel suggestion: pay the c-suite what you're paying any of the folks getting retrenched, don't lay off the people making you the money, and something tells me the quarterly earnings will be even better ;)

Nobody but nobody hires and retains for attention to detail. Caring about product or (gasp) the customer gets you fired. Every time.

@jordanholland9050 2 days ago

Ngl there’s so many products i can’t even do what mark rosewater said to do only engage with products I want to.
Things I like are gone in a second.
I have to have more time than I can even invest despite actually being able to buy more product than I’ve ever really been.

Speaking of blunders: in its Italian version, the card "The Theorist, Jace Beleren" uses the term "each player's" instead of "each opponent's" in its static ability...

@rickl7985 16 hours ago

Errors on cards is insane given how much money is made on Magic.

It's always nice hearing a company spend an entire year going on and on and on about how amazing they're doing and how profitable they are and how incredible it is and shareholders should be so dang happy... Oh and by the way everyone's fired

Everything gets worst when billionaires get involved

man just constant disasters/fails/players being mad/broken cards/bans/inability to get product/too much product/under-powered junk/power creep. It's just amazing this game has any players left after three decades. eye roll
