I heart horrible alternate realities:)

Alternate universes and timelines in comics usually explore fun concepts. The Marvel multiverse is full of wacky and strange realities, but in this video, I wanted to explore the bad ones. From the Ultimate Marvel universe, to the Noir universe, we're taking a look at some of the worst timelines in all of Marvel Comics.

Marvel writing 101

1: incest
2: cannibalism
3: X-men hate

Every time they make a character a cannibal it just makes me think of Squidward saying "daring today are we?".

"But... they're brother and sister." BRO, THE FACT THAT LINE HAD TO BE SAID IS ENOUGH TO GET THIS UNIVERSE IN THE FIRE PIT, BURN IT

You forgot the universe where spiderman has for some reason a failing marriage and she leaves him for some guy named paul, who is 90% a self insert from the mf who made it

The frequency of cannibalism and incest in the ultimate universe was weirdly high.

The idea of “what if the super power actually turned out to be a really bad thing ie: very poisonous spider bite; no, radiation doesn’t turn you green and buff, what laser eyes does to a mfr, etc” sounds really cool. But instead the comic was literally “lol all your favorite people are rotting away in prisons just like their bodies lol ain’t that a unique and fun take!?”

where's my universe where EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER eats eachother (without being zombies) BUT there's no incest involved

I like to think that in the ruin universe, Thanos won and used the infinity gauntlet to remake the world in the shittiest way possible for his own sick amusement

That scene of ulfimate Wasp explaining that Magneto's kids are incestous is so weird. Its structured like Ultimate Cap is behind the times for not being understanding about incest. Jeph Loeb wss losing his mind when he wrote Ultimatum I swear.

all edgy comic book writers know is cannibalism, everyone's evil, edgy bullshit, eat hot chip, and incest. for real tho, all of these "dark" alternate universes stop being depressing at some point and it all just becomes comedic. i swear someone could made a bingo card for all the tropes that keep popping up in these and you'd get a bingo every time you read a new universe.
a universe where everyone's happy? now that's groundbreaking.

Galctus' corpse floating in space always gives me a laughing fit whenever someone talks about Marvel Ruins. He's just there, dead. How'd he die? Hunger probably, but who knows for sure?

4:55 is the moment I felt we talking about greek gods and NOT modern characters.

8:38 “God found dead in space” sounds like a great Onion headline

Tbf with ruins, the writer intended it to be so edgy and ridiculous that it was funny. The artist, however, made some genuinely disturbing and haunting images.

Sidenote, you should read the alternate "good timeline" version that's just called "Marvels," which basically shows the birth of super heroes and the way they change how life is viewed. It's great.

Not an excuse for Ultimatum at all but the head writers son had just died when he was writing it. He refused to take time off work to actually deal with it so the comic is a sad look at the mind of a grieving father.
