The Val Kilmer fantasy movie from the  80's you were thinking of is called Willow

Stardust (2007): it's a fantasy, and there's a grocery store!

"If touching a magical unicorn brings on eternal winter, buy a goddamn coat." is an amazing t-shirt.

Mia Sara was also in Ferris Bueller. And boy did I crush on her.

Goodbye Tim Curry, 1946-2026.
He played an underrated movie villain in a fantasy adventure film that's developed a cult following.
"I am The Lord Of Darkness. I require
the solace of the shadows, and the dark of the night. Sunshine is my destroyer. But all this shall change!
Tonight, the sun sets forever. There shall never be another dawn."

Tim Curry’s “Darkness” is exactly what I think about when I think of a devil.

"The dreams of youth... are the regrets of maturity..."

I still drop that line every so often, so true.

32:21 “😱😱😱 IS THAT TIM CURRY?!?!??” 👹👹 😂😂

After this I feel like she MUST watch "Time Bandits." Her head would explode.

Absolutely the best Devil costume ever.

Nikki NEEDS to see The Beastmaster! Can you imagine???

The sanctioned response, to figuring out it's Tim Curry, is "HOLY SHNIKIES!!!"

The fae realm makes no sense by definition 🤣

1:05 the one you asking about with Val Kilmer is called Willow

Fantasy movies in the 70-80's were one of a kind. They had this wild and raw vibe going for them.  They didn't try to teach you the history or backstory of these worlds.  They tended to give you a glimpse and let you imagine the rest.  It feels like you are seeing a tiny portion of a much larger universe.

11:25, The design of Darkness was inspired by the demon Chernabog from Disney's FANTASIA 1940, only with 3 foot horns on his head and cloven hooves.

"Does this movie have a horse?"

...kinda!

fun fact: The witchy green creature from the swamp was played by Robert Picardo. He was the Emergency Medical Hollogram program in Voyager.

This is where I fell in love with Tangerine Dream.

"IS THAT TIM CURRY?!?" 🤣🤣
