It would be nice to add a pivot support arm for miter cuts with just the purchase of a digital meter gauge.

Hi, Jeremy..I have to say, thats a nifty design. Simple and small. It takes up very little space in a woodshop. One improvement thogh would be to mount your aluminium guide rails on a paralellogram system....actually 4 swing levers 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom. Then it would work on every thickness of board, without using shims.... i built a automated panel saw some years ago.... feel free to visit my channel.... Great idea Jeremy, having vertical space in my tiny workshop but not horizontal space is an issue for me and this solves that. Be happy to buy a set of plans when available. Stay safe.

Could not sleep because my head was tumbling the idea of making a vertical panel saw jig. So I got up in the middle of the night and searched youtube and found several nice solutions, but yours with modifications is just what I want! Thank you very much and a happy new year to you!

Nice one Jeremy. One thing is for sure, here in the UK solutions for the small workspace will always be popular. On the other hand the Frank Howarths’ and April Wilkinsons’ of this world, will most definitely have no need of it (or them?).😀👍

Ingenious Jeremy!.....you made me think... of perhaps inverting the design of your current jig and perhaps utilize a purpose made tee square to slide horizontally across the top. The guide strips being a integral part of the long arm of the tee square? -Just a thought!
