K's memory mistakes can be explained by Jane's ability to have multiple instances of herself/work in parallel. Maybe there's another Jane that K was seeing that wore a white hat or a blue scarf.

I think the key is that when she tried to figure out the microwave dinner instructions in Xar, it felt like a difficult maze. I think it implies that the real world is just another inner world for some even higher order world, and the problems they are solving are not problems we’d understand - after all, Jane said a supercomputer would be better suited for hard problems from our world.

I think the agency is really run from a higher order of existence, for which the real world is just another inner world. They are trying to solve their problems that are beyond our understanding, and even though the mazes are comparatively harder than the individual pieces up there, they can still make progress by massively parallelizing it across denizens of their inner world (meaning humans in our world). They are literally mechanizing their inner world.

I have some other half formed thoughts but I’ll leave them as stubs for now:
- The orb creatures are denizens of lower order worlds that have their own inner cores, as they appear to us
- The sun and stars are what higher order denizens look like to us - so the whole Sag A* and TON 618 are not codenames.
- When K looked at the sun, she was just getting pwned by a powerful orb while too deep in Xar
- The railguns and stuff aren’t literal, it’s just how the character’s mind makes sense of the inner world. It just happens to be that the player and K share that memory.
- Combat in this game is actually just a staring contest with other core-having entities in order to harvest cores faster
- After all, the only way to get power ups without killing things is to solve “dungeons”. Sounds like you can solve mazes to get your first cores… but you can get way more if you just steal them from an entity who already did some mazes.

The fact that the Sun took K’s ‘godlike’ inner core means that the possibility that you are talking to stars and black holes is more valid or maybe these celestial bodies are also the ‘clients’ that the org works for or maybe even then when they absorb someone’s godlike inner core they also have an aspect of control on the human/creature who created it… idk I just think these are neat concepts

The dubiously validated paranoia of K feels very House of Leaves, especially this feeling of being "changed" in some horrific way from K's and Johnny Truant's experiences. "I am not what I used to be."

I wonder if the Sun itself trapping K in the Xar world validates the idea that some of the entities leaving messages in the game are actual stars or black holes, rather than merely someone using their names as codenames?
