Check out Jamin rating Yu-Gi-Oh cards: https://youtu.be/C3RrIxD0RD8

You should put more Side-board cards in Staple or Stinker! If you let him know that it's an option, I can imagine him debating if a card is good enough to see side-board play, instead of going in the main 60.

Mind Rot when Hymn to Tourach enters the function: 😱

I think one of the big things missed about mind rot is that the worst fail case is not "7 cards in hand" it's "0 cards in hand." Magic games can come down to topdeck wars where both players are running out of stuff and just playing off the top of their deck, especially for the kinds of grindy decks that could look at mind rot, and mind rot is useless in these games.

It's also bad against aggressive decks - it doesn't help to mind rot your opponents last 2 cards out of their hand if their first three turns of plays are busy killing you.

I really wanna see a yugioh player try to understand banding

I think an aspect of Mind Rot being bad that was overlooked here is that it's a sorcery. I could see it being played as a response to something in some theoretical deck where I run a lot of interaction, so passing with 3 mana open wouldn't be bad, but not when I have to commit to this on my turn.

I always enjoy these episodes. Hearing Taylor walk through his thought process is always enlightening.

Taylor shouldn't feel bad about Ensnaring Bridge or Mind Rot.  When my group saw Ensnaring Bridge for the first time we all thought "who the hell would play this?" ... Apparently EVERYONE.  Mind Rot, in isolation, looks great until you compare it to Hymn to Tourach and then you realize ... hmmm ... not so good.

having the Yugioh team build a commander deck and have them play each other or the magic team would be a blast

Based on the Mind Rot example in this video it would be interesting to see a version where you try and guess when an effect becomes good. Is Mind Rot good enough? Is Hymn to Tourach good enough? Is Raven's Crime good enough. Having to divide a selection of 5 similar effects into two piles would be really interesting. You could do the same with burn, life gain, card draw, sweepers, etc.

Reading the card explains the card!

Sometimes...

It would have been cool to follow mind rot up with hymn to tourach. Showing two similar cards and having to guess if the differences are enough to change if its good or not.

i remember playing ensnaring bridge in mystery booster limited and you don't actually need to lock it down to 0. if you have an evasion creature then you can just set it so it can attack each turn while your opponents creatures can't really attack because those that would want to attack are too big to be able to

Jamin gives much more context to these cards than Carl normally does. It makes it easier, but also generally more fair

Possible twist -- explain the main idea of a simple-enough meta deck, and then have them evaluate if cards are in the main deck, sideboard, or excluded. Love these, I just came from the other channels' version. 😇

Yay! New Staple or Stinker. I love those every now and then.

It's tough to get into but one thing I'm surprised you didn't mention was ensnaring bridge being valuable for decks that don't win with creatures, especially cause that's probably not something a Yu Gi Oh player would be as aware of. Like obvi bridge is synonomous with lantern but decks like tron rely on it a lot to win with walkers or decks like 8 rack that win with damage over time

“Using on your yugioh knowledge, and the knowledge from the last 4 videos we’ve done before”

You guys should do a series where you give vintage decks to these Yu-Gi-Oh guys with zero context and see what the games look like

Emsaring bridge makes me think of a group hug deck
