it is completely dellusional that the guy think starting from a poor country is better than startig from a rich country, if that logic is true, China would never have been poor in the first place, it is not like China only suddenly became a large country in 2000s. why didn't India keep up with China if being poor and large is all that determine success?
why Japan and China are successful and India and Indonesia are not, is simply because of education, if you look at the average literacy rate, Japan and China were considerably better than their peers, they might be poor materially when then started, mind u WWII basically wipe up most of the world's industrial base. it was education that allow them to engineer solutions, without decade of investment before then, there would not be adults that are well educated and can do engineering task. education is always a generation before economic development. if you only look at China's GDP you will have a mistaken believe that China only started developing late into the 70s. the reality is educational development already started in the 50s, a generation earlier. if you want to know which is the next country that will explode in growth, look at their education system.
