We found a nearly pristine 1958 Ford Edsel Corsair being kept in a climate controlled garage. This car is absolute survivor, but hasn’t run in 38 years. These cars have many issues, especially with the tele touch shifting system, and I’m going to see if I can put this car back on the road.

You have to wait a minute when you cut the radio on for the tubes to warm up before it will play.

That electrical system is soooo simple compared to the self destructing systems of modern computer systems.
Buyers whined and complained about the Edsel but in reality the minor issues of the Edsel. People expected it to be the same as the Model A .
I’d love to have and drive one.

When the Edsel came out, everybody in town was laughing at the grill, saying it was "yawning" and so forth. I would rather drive one now (in good shape like this one, of course) than anything new on the market. Fun video! Thanks!

I think the fuel pump should be a three port Carter fuel pump. The return line prevents vapor lock.

I was 20 years old when these came out and almost bought one. My dad worked at the Lincoln-Mercury dealership at the time in Birmingham.

If the radio does work, you might not have everything connected since the antenna is missing.

That's a really cool old Edsel , and you did a great job getting it running . But I would have put fresh oil in it and primed the oiling system before starting it . :)
