The World of Light has been a bit divisive in Smash Ultimate, but one thing everyone seems to agree on is how cool its intro cutscene is. That said, I think some of the characters got dealt a bit of a rough hand, so it's tier list time!

Thanks for watching everyone! Something a little different today that I've wanted to tackle for awhile and it was a lot of fun, what did you think of the list?

I do like how Sonic could've escaped but wouldn't without Pikachu. He's spent too much time saving forest critters to abandon one in its moment of need.

18:46 It’s actually a pretty good character beat for Snake. He’s not dumb and can see when he’s massively outclassed, so might as well enjoy his final moments by being in the place he likes best.

20:14 the funny thing about that Wii Fit Using invincibility is that shes conveniently also the last one to be fully vaporized and absorbed in the cutscene, so it looks like it did work for just enough but the frames ran out.

My dude really blaming Snake for not shooting a couple of bullets and a grenade at an all mighty powerful god

I felt that Mario was frantically looking in his pockets for anything, and the moment he found his star was when he got hit.

Let's be fair to the Villager: his daily life is mostly overseeing a town, not fighting beings like Galeem. Heck, he might even be the youngest here and the most normal-like of the cast.

His reaction is clearly him remembering he did NOT sign up for this.

The villager cracked me up. If you lived in a world where your greatest concerns were coordinating your furniture and growing flowers your reaction would be the same.

Snake can see out of his box. He can clearly see that shooting the god orb isn’t working for anyone else. He hasn’t seen anyone else trying to hide from it.

I always assumed Shulk did try to warn them to escape, but due to them not getting new voice lines to work with, they just recycled his grunts

"After Galeem's beams covered the entire universe, nothing remained... except a Hylian Shield"

@aidanbrandt218 1 year ago

Dragging shulk is so valid, but honestly, if I saw a vision everyone and everything around being destroyed in a few second, there’s a good chance I would be too stunned to speak

4:58 if you look closely, a beam is going straight for link’s head but it curves away from him once he starts to attack. This means link is the sole character to not only block any of the beams, but also the only one of the fighters to attack that caused one of the beams to dodge instead of just blasting through the attack. I interpret this to mean that the beam swerved because it had to because link would have deflected it back at galeem, which is something we see the master sword do many many times throughout the Zelda series, and, save for alternate timelines, it’s always the same Master Sword

I can’t stop giggling at the “I’m not locked in here with you, you’re locked in here with me” tier and how it needs no explanation

@punkane943 1 year ago (edited)

11:53 You can actually see (and hear) in the animation that after Bayenetta dodges the first attack, that she reacts to the second one behind her, with a audible gasp being made before it hit her, but most she could do is turn her head before it vaporized her. So they did make it were she had witch time after the bat within but I guess she can't do bat within again that fast so it was just the 500 basballs thing at that point.

I like to think Lucario purposely Double Teamed behind Greninja to try to use it as a shield and Greninja was like “dick move buddy, we’re both dying today but you’re still dying first.”

Alternate title: “shulk getting crapped on for having foresight and not telling people”

@kobotics227 1 year ago (edited)

I love how falco just gets absolutely obliterated by galeem. One of the few characters that actually managed to ran decently far in his R-wing, only to get shot down by like 5 different beams 😂

@daskmon702 1 year ago

11:44 I think it’s very in character for Sonic to try and help Pikachu. He’s all about protecting small woodland creatures

@bluedemontr-whisperofwind-2296 1 year ago

Its been so many years but I still can't stop thinking about what must've been going through Pit and Dark Pits minds during their final moments. As soon as he stopped flying Pit must've known his goddess was gone
