well here I go watching another playthrough of Clair Obscur

Ah yes, emotional vampirism, French edition!

Easily my favorite game of the last 8 or so years, E33 is built different

The editor's having a lot of fun with this video, especially during the Act 1 finale.

Fun fact: Clair obscur is a French phrase for the art style known as “Light-Dark” which uses heavy contrast between light and dark colors to emphasize each other

probably my favorite part from watching the vods was when you still had to compliment the music despite being in the middle of being on the verge of tears

How do you make people cry over characters they've met like an hour ago at most?

E33: Hold my Beer.

The boy holding his little brother's face to his chest so he doesn't have to see everyone getting dusted will never not wreck me.

I adore how this game has like two extremes. You're either sobbing from the soul-crushing narrative or screaming your lungs out with hype at the combat when you pull off that REALLY cool counter.
Considering the theme of the game, one wonders if it was a deliberate decision.

Fun fact: Monoco is named after the dev team's dog and if you go to sanfall interactive site, you'll see him listed as part of the team.

That.... was a hell of a cold open...

this is probably my 20th time of replaying this game by watching people play this game lmao (I love this game so much)

Vulpixie I played this game last year. I used to be a big crier as a child and now it’s hard for me to cry for anything emotional. This game brought back child me’s tears. So glad to see you playing through this game and can’t wait to see more.

Clair Obscur's ability to make us emotionally invested after knowing someone for 5 minutes then IMMEDIATELY kill them off needs to be studied.

For those who come after!

I desperately wish I could reexperience this game for the first time. But its fantastic seeing someone else get to experience it as well.

The OST is easily one of my favorites in gaming.

Also I LOVE the editors notes throughout the video.

I love the music of this game so much. The music alone in the gommage scene is enough to make me cry my eyes out.

It's so hard these days to find characters in video games that talk like normal people. I love this game so much.

I finished the game in October last year. I went in as blind as possible, knowing from what little I'd heard that it would be a brutal experience. At the end of act 1, I had to take a 2 week break before playing it again, I thought I might not be able to. I did, I powered through and finished it, and I have avoided anything to do with it since. I couldn't even hear the music without tearing up and reliving all of the emotions at once.

I ugly cried through this whole video, but I loved every second of you experiencing something that changed me forever, and I look forward to seeing you finish it as well.

For those who come after.

Watching people's minds blown by Clair Obscur music never gets old:face-blue-smiling:
