Watch the full movie Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai (1960), written and directed by Kishore Sahu and produced under Kamal Amrohi's Mahal Pictures.

Dr. Sushil Verma is a surgeon at Shimla Hospital, living with his ailing mother and young sister. Karuna is the nurse who arrives and meets him mid-emergency. Neither says anything, but it's obvious to everyone. Then his mother invokes a debt — the family friend who paid for his medical school expects his daughter married — and Sushil does what he's told. What follows is a house with three women in it and only one of them wanted there.

One of the great Meena Kumari performances. Shankar Jaikishan's score beat Mughal-e-Azam to Best Music Director at the 1961 Filmfare Awards, and Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh remains one of Lata Mangeshkar's most enduring recordings. Watch the complete film right here!
