Watch the full movie Bahurani (1963), a family drama directed by T. Prakash Rao and adapted from the Bengali novel Swayamsiddha by Manilal Banerjee.

A zamindar has two sons. Raghu is gentle and easily overlooked. Vikram, his half-brother, is cruel to everyone — the servants, the household, and Raghu most of all. Then a village girl named Padma stands up to Vikram, the first person ever to do so. Married into the family, she sees exactly how her husband has been treated all his life, and quietly sets about changing it. What she gives Raghu is not pity but the nerve to stand up for himself.

Guru Dutt and Mala Sinha lead, with Feroz Khan in an early role and Lalita Pawar in one of her sharpest turns. Mala Sinha earned a Filmfare Best Actress nomination for Padma. C. Ramchandra's score with lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi gave us Umra Hui Tumse Mile, Balma Anari Man Bhaye and Main Jagoon Saari Rain. Watch the complete film right here!
