Let's be real. The collateral damage rule only exists so that Light can't just write "A pilot crashes a plane into the task force's building at [Light's day off during work hours]" and end the series.

To be fair. The word possessed in Japanese is closer to the word haunted. So the gods of death just mistranslated.

I love that at some point L just starts saying You instead of the he/them of a theoretical Kira

The funniest part about the rules is that they boil down to however the fuck the Shinigami King feels like they work today

Light: totally unreasonable example

L: that's stupid and you're thinking about this way too hard

"i have a beautiful loving girlfriend who i IGNORE" that actually got me

I always assumed the "Physically possible" rule meant you can't write something like this: John Doe jumps 50ft into the air then falls onto his own neck

the whole being "possessed" was actually pretty mind blowing to even consider. the whole time i belived kira just just on a power trip. but if you think about it he he made a sharp heel turn in such a short amount of time and didnt even hesitate trying to kill his first non-criminal. makes you think ryuk was running the show the whole time.

To be fair to Light, he DID found the notebook lying on the grass. Ryuk dropped it in the middle of a school and Light was apparently the only one who noticed it.

I appreciate how this video is just L telling Light all the audience critiques of the last Death Note video 🤣

15:46
Matsuda: closes notebook "all according to plan"

I like to believe L sees Ryuk all the time during this after first touched the notebook as it's canon in the show, and jus playing along.

Death Note Rule 0: Accept that the rules exist for narrative convenience; if it would end the plot in a single episode, the Death Note can't do it.

really with it spelled out like that, it becomes abundantly clear that a good chunk of the rules are just to prevent light from having easy win conditions.
the misspelling rule prevents a brute force approach aka just writing random names until you get lucky
the reasonably possible rule prevents light from learning L's name aka can't write a scenario where someone writes L's real name before they die.
the no collateral deaths rule prevents light from "assassinating" L as part of someone's death scenario

It can’t be any more confusing than “Da Rulez” book from Fairly Odd Parents.😅

I'd say the multi kill thing is more to prevent you from killing someone without knowing their name and face.

So Kira can't just write: Sohichiro Yagami suicide the next day kills L and then himself.

God if Death note existed in the real world.

Kalshi would definitely get in on betting who would die next.

Light being jealous of L's spine had me loling

Rules lawyering.
Gets em every time.

4:47 Nice save, Light. Nice save.
