I replied to a comment regarding what I meant by "shy" should've used the word "reserved" I think.  Filipino parents are usually helicopter parents, they don't let you truly live your life with your OWN decisions. It's always their decisions are the RIGHT decisions. It hinders the person to ever really GROW as an independent person. Also, what I meant by "traditional" wasnt traditional house wife or something, I meant more of the courting / panliligaw stuff.  Hope yall enjoyed the video even if I'm bad at English sometimes LOOOL

"World's friendliest country..... TO FOREIGNERS!!"

Legit.

Divided by racism, united by racism 😂

Screw casual racism we going competitive

I see the relation of Filipinos to Filipinos is like siblings. And Filipinos to Foreigners is like when the family have guests

They call it 007

0 gold
0 honest government
7 forms of racism

I have seen Americans reacting, talking about like,"ooh! I'd wish i was born in the Philippines",and as a Filipino, I'm like,"...do you have a death wish, brother?"

Dude, I'm half Filipino and half Japanese. And BOTH sides like to criticize my looks!! I normally get quite a number of people saying "Im trying to LOOK FILIPINO" . But then I travel to the Philippines for a few months and then I get people telling me "I'm trying to LOOK JAPANESE" . Jesus H• Christ, as if I dont have a mixture of japanese and Filipino traits 24/7. I literally CANT belong to only ONE SIDE!

BECAUSE IM STUCK BETWEEN BOTH!
🤬

•edit•
On the plus side, I got my dad's light brown noypi skin color. And women in Japan are FASCINATED by it. 🤣

Tagalog people and Bisaya people being racist to each other is so fking funny for me idk why

22:48 "Fun" Fact: We filipinos already have our own caste-like system before Spanish colonialism. Datu (Chief) > Maharlika (Warrior Citizens) > Freemen > then an entire different hierarchy set, depending on which region you're from, consisting of slaves depending on your agreement or contract with your master. I forgot and lost my notes from college of the specific names of the slave hierarchy, but it all depends on what labor you're designated to, whether you're a quarter or half slave, if you inherited the title of slave, you became a prisoner of war, and a deserter during a raid. Children who have parents as slaves will inherit the title depending on their gender and/or if they're eldest, middle, or youngest. The only good thing is, if you're a slave in the pre-colonial Philippines, life isn't entirely that bad because depending on your position, you can still own land, a house, and a family with no issues. Chiefs can also be slaves if they fail their jobs. The Spanish abolished this system before replacing it with their own hierarchy and systems.

In terms of "shy Filipino", me and a lot of my guy friends have been raised with a distinct focus on education. We had a very strict upbringing, "Don't go out partying", "Study harder", "Don't get a relationship until you finish school", and if anyone else is raise in this manner I would not be surprised they end up shy or not-so-social. And the screwed up part is that once you finish, they tell you to start picking up chicks and making a family, like you flip a switch and turn into rizz incarnate and that's just not how it works. I don't know how many Filo dudes can attest to this, but hopefully this is changing in later generations.

As a Filipino American man I … wait a minute. Fuck.

I see Filipino racism is like sibling relationship tbh

As an American it is INSANE how few Americans know we colonized the Philippines and little we actually learn about it in school. Like there might a line or two about how America took it from Spain in the Spanish American war, and maybe a line about Philippine–American War if you're lucky. But usually Philippines doesn't get mentioned in our curriculum until it starts talking about MacArthur and WW2. I remember as a Boy Scout we would put flags on the graves of veterans for Memorial Day, and was surprised/confused when some said the Philippine war, and I had to do my own research to find out what that even was. Most americans don't do their own research to answer their curiousity, and the history channel only cares about aliens now.

I agree with you regarding your not allowed to speak English if your Filipino with the "nose bleed" joke, but that was the old days. Nowadays I see the new generation speaking English comfortably in schools, even in Public schools without other people batting an eye. The "nose bleed" joke still happens though but not as evident as before.

Philippines racism is just toxic sibling relationship.

I can hit you, beat you up, berate you. But noone else can.

I did it, my way! 🎵

Gets shot 24 times because I sang ugly

As a Filipino this video is 95% accurate

10:00 As someone who grew up with English and Chinese as my first two languages as a Filipino/Chinese, I can relate especially hard to the accent comments, as well as struggling to speak in Filipino. I'm a college student, and it's difficult to escape the hurtful stereotypes that come with being a primarily English-speaking Filipino, like bro I don't think I'm better than you just because I speak in English my Filipino just sucks.
The "reserved/shy Filipino" really hit close to home, I grew up with my parents saying "study harder", "no party", "no girlfriend until you get job" and I wished I had more freedom to just explore and live life while I'm still in my teen years. It's hard for me to socialize since 90% of the time I'd just be at home studying or playing video games since I wasn't allowed to do many things growing up.

"Philippines racism is casual racism"

Agreed, you'll never run out of bisaya vs tagalog posts online but they aren't killing each other because of it
