Actually, I don’t call it racism, I call it regionalism — it’s funny and infuriating at the same time.

@juanitosantos7884 8 months ago

In the Philippines it’s not called racism. We call it regionalism wherein each region has different accents in speaking especially when one tries to speak the language or dialect of another region. Each region has it’s own known characteristics customs and traditions.

loca racism in the philippines is as common as rain in rainy days i tell you 🤣. when i recall my childhood, my mom would sometime say, "stop playing under the sun! you look like an igorot now" - igorot is a race/tribe in the philippines which according to IGNORANT people are dark, have small stature and tightly curled hair. sometimes i can hear our neighbors tell their children to go bath because they look like "tagabundok" (mountain people) after playing in the dirt, bisaya (ladies in visaya resion) are labeled maids, muslims labeled dangeorus etc, it's sad but i really hope since we are in digital age now, that people will be more aware of the different cultures in our own country

It's a love or hate relationship for us Filipinos. It's like I threatened my cousin's life yesterday while hurling insults and slurs and then the next day we sit happily beside each other at the dining table. It's very confusing indeed. This is not an isolated shit for us and it happens all around Asia, but we do it in a unique and creative way. It's like competitive racism.

We also have a joke around here about teenage pregnancy. It goes, "POV: You're reborn as a Filipino (Your mother is 11 years old)"

Also, the biggest beef among Filipinos is about Tagalogs v.s. Visayas.

We are not racist we just equally hate everbody even our own self hahahaha

It depends to the mindset of that person. If you want to go to certain region, you must be open minded and adapt to their culture, practice and way of life. Keep in mind that there are many dialects and islands. So expect their differences to each other. Your content can be based during 70’s into the late 80’ but it is not like that anymore. Time have changed and status branding have also changed. Now, Filipinos are being recognize in all levels. Opo or po are being said almost every sentences. That is a sign of respect.

People tell you to go to the province and see all the natural wonders it has to offer, but they simultaneously look down upon the people that do live there. Them telling you to go see the sights does not necessarily mean they have no negative opinion on the people that live there and didn't "make it" to the big cities and high-paying jobs. Ofc, you're also a foreigner, locals tend to act more cheerful and hospitable towards you than they would to other locals

Filipinos: They’ll use offensive terms to tear you down, then turn around and use the very same words as a sign of deep friendship.

Whether you are white or what you are very handsome. RACISM is a word often misunderstood. Understanding Filipinos for sure will take so much time. Adding the word racism will triple the time.

One of the reason why Filipinos hate Philippines is that it’s more costly to travel domestically compared Internationally.

Whos not gonna complain living in a system that has corrupt politicians

@shin9766 8 months ago (edited)

The reason you didn't notice it is because you're a foreigner. Ofc they also don't talk about it in public.

I don’t know I believed people even though any where of their country are individual !! And they have differences , but in Philippines we believed in our culture and diverse !!! Cause we are kind of conservative in someway that we learn in old generation .. especially we are train on our generation to be respect the elders and being polite is the strong biggest Pilipino attitude !! But the most Pilipino are very friendly and hospitable …
