After teasing in our last motorhome vlog that we had a very important job to do, we can finally reveal what we’ve been working on for the past year, Wayne has applied for Irish residency!
If successful, this could give us much more freedom when it comes to our motorhome travelling around Europe, something that could make a huge difference to our plans for the future. It’s been around 12 months in the making, so getting the application submitted was a pretty big moment for us, although now comes the hard part........waiting!
We arrive at the Lowdhams Rally Field for the night before handing our motorhome over to the dealership. It might not have been quite where we’d hoped to spend our weekend, but it’s actually a fantastic free facility provided for customers who have bought their motorhomes from Lowdhams, particularly useful if you’ve got an early appointment and have a long drive to get there.
And the location isn’t bad either! With the River Trent nearby and plenty of pubs and restaurants within easy reach, we decided to make the most of it.
So, after settling in, we head out for a walk with Roger and stop for lunch at the Unicorn Hotel before explaining the main reason for our visit.
Our motorhome is going to be staying at Lowdhams for around 3–4 weeks while they complete the outstanding warranty work and investigate the intermittent power steering problem we’ve been experiencing.
We’ve also been doing plenty of research ourselves into what could potentially be causing the steering issue, including possible water ingress, so we explain what we’ve discovered and what we’re hoping Lowdhams will investigate while the motorhome is with them.
It’s not quite the adventure we had planned… but this is the reality of early retirement and motorhome life, sometimes it’s riverside walks, lunch and a couple of beers, and sometimes it’s handing your motorhome over to the dealer and hoping they can finally get to the bottom of a problem!

A Little About Us....
After taking early retirement to fulfil our lifelong dream of travelling full-time in a motorhome, we began our van life journey in the UK in July 2025, before heading through France and Spain.
Sadly, our adventure was cut short when we had to return to the UK in October 2025 after our beloved cockapoo Rolo became seriously unwell. We were heartbroken to say goodbye and let him cross the rainbow bridge 🌈🐾. Our original plan to continue on to Morocco was placed on hold as we focused on healing and honouring his memory.
We love to explore, enjoy cycling, running and just generally embrace the great outdoors.
Our 2026 travel plans.....
We returned to the road in 2026, starting with:
✔ UK travels
✔ South & South Eastern France
✔ North Spain
✔ West France
✔ Making full use of our 90-day Schengen allowance
This is only the beginning and we’ll be sharing every step as our plans evolve. If you have must-see places, hidden gems, or van life tips, we would absolutely love to hear them in the comments!
Meet Our Van Life Puppy.... 🐶
We also welcome a new little member to our family, Roger, our now 11 month old Golden Doodle puppy! He’ll be growing up as a true van lifer, and we can’t wait to share his adventures with you too.
✨ Follow our real, honest van life journey, the highs, the challenges, the laughs, and the lessons. Learn from our mistakes, celebrate our wins, and travel with us as we chase freedom on four wheels.
🙏 Thank you so much for supporting our journey, it truly means the world to us. Please like, subscribe, and comment to join our van life family!

We're very excited about Wayne's opportunity with the Irish citizenship but also appreciate it's a very long drawn out process, we're expecting this to take well over a year so we're just going to forget about it now and if it happens, it will be a bonus. Be great to hear anyone else's experience with this?
Have a great weekend xx
