There will always be someone to belittle your work, but the important thing is that there are many people who value and benefit from it. Congratulations and thank you for your classes!

I don't recall if it was a composer or a painter, but some old master said something like this:
Talent is nothing but interest to do something so much that you'll end up being good at it.

I’ve been playing piano for 30 years now. This guy has been the best teacher I’ve had by far. Give him a try and put in an hour of work a week on it. You’ll see.

I’ve been a member of Piano with Jonny for six years now! Best online piano learning site ever! ❤ It’s fun and you learn an amazing amount of skills and techniques. Jonny’s method totally works but you have to be willing to put in the work and practice. There is no site out there, no teacher out there, that will be able to teach you to sound good on the piano in just a few months. If you want to play really well, you need to be in it for the long haul. So just pick a great teacher, roll up your sleeves and get stuck in! The jounrney is so much fun!!!!

You said it, Johnny.  You've got to put in the time and focused effort.  Some people do it faster than others.  That's it.

I’m a member. These two videos have been some of the most inspiring ones yet! The courses have helped me learn jazz theory and these tips help put the theory to practice. More please!

Your lessons have not only improved my playing, but perhaps my life in general  ;)  thank you!!  nvr stop

💯. The amount of times I've thought "this is impossible" when learning piano, then I just knuckle down and practice, practice, practice. Also, after leaving it a day or so, you'd be surprise how much your brain works out while you're not playing.

I want to make something clear: talent is not a magical gift. It simply means that some people find more effective and comprehensive ways to achieve their goals — people who have greater resilience to keep struggling, consistency when studying, and the ability to enjoy the process. The real gift is having access to this kind of knowledge. The greatest thing anyone can do is to give it a try before judging. Thank you, Jonny — I would have given anything in my youth to have access to any of your lessons.

“Sometimes I think the greatest talent of all is perseverance.”
― Mitch Albom, The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto

Johnny - you're right of course, but you don't have to rise to the hate bait. As a classically trained pianist, church organist, piano teacher, orchestra player, pop band player, and now independent musician, producer, and audio engineer -  the simple truth is that practice makes perfect. I know it sounds trite - but if I hadn't put in all those hours learning each of these disciplines I would not be able to do any of them at a decent level today after starting with my first classical piano teacher 70 years ago. We so much appreciate you and all you and your team do for our community. I watch a lot of your videos, mostly for arrangement ideas now more than piano technique or music theory, but I always learn something. And I'm grateful for your positive attitude and great products. Don't let the turkeys get you down - you're an amazing resource for almost half a million people through your channel. Keep up the great work!

Johnny, I read you loud and clear. Anything worth doing takes a lot of hard work and practice. What you described are foundational skills that take time to develop. As a beginner at this, and a master of several other skills, I can completely relate to the idea that I should incorporate these ideas into my learning here at the beginner level, so that I have a large set of goals for skills I will need to achieve a significant level of ability in the future. The one thing that NONE of us can afford is to take on a negative idea about achieving our goals, because that will ensure that those goals are never achieved. This is a MIND game and it's a HEART game. I have a friend who created and taught the Navy BUD/S program, known also as the legendary Seal Training. I once asked him what the key for success was in that program. He looked at me with a very serious expression, and his answer was, "just don't quit."

Jonny - You are the best teacher and pianist. I think you're teaching skill is unmatched.

Why haters gotta hate? My last 5 years as a member of Piano With Jonny have taken me further than I ever thought possible. I’m beyond thrilled with what I’m able to play. And more than that, I UNDERSTAND what I’m playing and how to transfer those skills to other situations. I have had in-person piano teachers at various times and I’ve always chosen ones who teach in the same way as Jonny and his team. Plus, look at
the community that has commented here….Jonny and his team nurture this in such a kind and supportive way.

I agree it’s unfair that people put their negative views out onto
others  it may take a bit of effort to understand what’s being said and shown in the lesson, but for me, these lessons by Jonny May are presented with a lot of patience and attention to detail.

Hey Jonny, don't pay attention to the pointless criticism. These people should be grateful that you give them free tips. They can take them or leave them; ignorance will always be bold. I've followed your quick tips and become a member of your portal for several years, and I'm not trying to sell anything here. I just want to say that Jonny and his teachers offer excellent teaching and advice, so keep going, Jonny, and thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge. It's truly priceless. Blessings to you, your team, and your family.

This is a great video! I loved watching you work out unfamiliar songs by ear--it was really helpful for me to see/hear that! I also think it's important to remember (as you do here) to emphasize that this kind of skill doesn't happen in a day. It's not one of those "you can be an expert in just five minutes!" schemes. It takes work and a lot of time and the valuable thing you do is you give us the tools and show us how to use them. I've been diligently using those tools at PWJ for almost two years now and am amazed at how far I've come. Thanks for providing such a great resource, and inspiring the rest of us to become better pianists!

I just watched ur other video and i could play by ear better😅

Thanks for everything Johnny. You are a great teacher ! I remember my piano teacher that used to say "if you want to improve yourself, just work" 🤡

We love you, Jonny. Your piano lessons are so generous and giving of your talent. ❤
