Hello everyone! What Happens when six overweight foreigners come to Japan and live like Japanese for 7 days? How will they change after eating, exercising, and living like a real Japanese person for 7 days? I was able to put 6 overweight British people through a Japanese lifestyle makeover, and the results are shocking!

:_eatsThx: What did you think of the Brit's weight loss journey? Do you think this kind of diet, exercise, and lifestyle would work in your country?

@Hyperia_Selene 2 months ago

She actually treated them with respect without any mockery and so many others around the world should learn from her example.

honestly the "workout" concept of japan is actually need to be accepted & appreciated world wide. Our bodies are meant to move, regardless how they look like, we just need to.❤

Mrs. Eats should bring her experiment to the US. She could retire in about 6 months.

When I went to japan in 2023 my sugar a1c number was 11. To those who dont know about diabetes, that is very very bad. I felt horrible before going, I had nausea, dizzy spells, etc. I was in japan for one week and after my trip I felt way better. I was walking all thr time in japan, eating healthier, moving all the time. It was a good puch for me to get healthy. Now I am at 6.1 I need a 5.7 to be consider prediabetic-i think, but im so glad I made that trip.

I really like that theyre all weighted together. Often times these shows cause a lot of stigma and shame around the people being weighted

When I visited Japan for 9 days I lost 7 lbs! I even had Japanese kitkats in there because I am a kitkat connoisseur 😭All the walking and riding the train (which I LOVE but we do not have in KY), smaller portions, and healthier food! The best part was that I felt better too.

Speaking as a Brit with a, mostly, good diet you missed our biggest weight problem. Alcohol.

I like the Japanese outlook on exercise as a way of life and not something you force yourself to do in a hard workout. Any movement is good, especially if you're older. It's important to keep flexibility and balance.

There are Americans who drink so much soda that just stopping the soda is enough to lose a bunch of weight.

When I was a kid I and many others were frequently told to "eat it all", "don't waste anything", "there are starving kids in Japan", "always accept something if offered and eat it all". Food was also a reward for good behavior. That style of thinking made many of us, including myself to have overeating issues. I made good and sure that my kids new it was ok to say that they had enough. Lots of water, vegetables, fruit, etc. My wife wanted me to punish the children for not eating, I refused saying that just does to them what was done to us. Both of the kids are adults and healthy weights now.

Living in Japan and having to go through those same checks because of my school and work (my doctor gave me a pedometer and a list of approved foods to give my host family), I went from a US size 14 to a US size 8 in 6 months! When I visited family in the US later, they were shocked when I showed up at the airport almost half my size from when they last saw me in person. Definitely the daily walking commute, the portions and types of food, and the doctor, work, and school holding me accountable.

I spent a few weeks in Japan and people actively say said that i looked as if i lost weight. The cities being so walkable helps and portion sizes with such tasty food.

Their food is extremely good quality and reasonably priced. I ate from Lawson and 7 Eleven most days. That being said, Japan really knows how to do sweets and cakes.

I should love to have the japanese version of 7/11 here in Sweden.

Honestly, having gone trough various diets, the japanese portion control on protein, fiber and nutritional whole foods sounds like the greatest thing ever.

I dropped 5 lbs in 9 days last year in Japan. Walking and healthier eating. Kantan desu!

I would love a series of gradually changing a western diet into a Japanese one. I find it overwhelming to suddenly try to make a meal as you show but would love to. A gradual step by step transition would be so helpful for Westerners who do the families grocery and cooking.

My diet is a combo of Japanese influence and Mediterranean influence. I was also eating an average of two protein bars a day! I wasn’t overweight, but my bad cholesterol was rising. I’m getting my cholesterol checked today. However, I cut out eating so many protein bars. I went from 2 a day to 2 per week. Plus I added one day of light hiking a week to my workout.

I lost 10% of my body weight in 4 months and i didn’t even diet. I’m a middle aged person. It can be done.

"can't go without rice". one place i was studying at gave parties to congratulate those that were doing really well. for our group it was at a "oriental" restaurant. after the meal was over the host asked if there were any issues. in the most polite way i'd seen some of the people i was with said it reminded them strongly of home. it just seemed to be missing something. the host left and came back with a heaping bowl of white rice. those guys fully appreciated it
