This song was originally done by Simon and Garfunkel....a gentle warning about the lack of communication and general direction society was headed. Disturbed shows the anger that the warning was ignored. Paul Simon said Disturbed now OWNS this song. ❤❤

David Draiman is actually classically trained. The things he can do with his voice, according to me, is unmatched ❤

Everyone will tell you to watch the live version on Conan. It’s an amazing performance. It’s even more amazing because David (lead singer) had a really bad flu and high fever. They didn’t know if he could even do the performance and so you’ll see him halfway sitting on a stool, he was so weak he had a hard time standing because he was so sick. But he said he knew the crowd that was there came out specifically to see him do this song. So he met and exceeded the challenge that day.
He’s a professionally trained singer, and as a child, he was a cantor in the synagogue he went to. As tough as David looks as a metal singer, he’s one of the kindest souls.
God bless 💗🙏🏼🇺🇸

This is an amazing call for all of humanity to come together and use their voices and their talents to destroy the narrative that we have to remain quiet about the oppression and the pain and anguish that this world is going through. We must destroy the silence. And we can do it calmly and serenely without the violence and hatred that put us in this place to begin with. It is just as true today as it was when it was written by the genius Paul Simon in the sixties. And it is just as important--probably moreso. Silence is complicity. Turning our eyes and hearts away and ignoring is a death sentence for all of us.

David Draiman is a one in a million voice. Disturbed is one of my favorite bands ever, and there is not yet a song by Disturbed that has disappointed me. Listen to the live version of this on Conan O'Brian. The original, by Simon and Garfunkel is a song to listen to, then listen to this song again. The writer of the song, Paul Simon, contacted David after hearing the live version, and told him he was so proud of the way Disturbed made this song their own. Amazing band. Amazing singing and songwriting.

Other commenters have told you to watch the live performance on Conan. When you do, keep in mind that David Draiman was extremely sick with the flu during that performance. The reason he’s seated is because they were afraid he’d fall down if he were standing. I don’t know how many other singers could deliver that performance when they are that ill.

Thank you. You hit the nail on the head describing it. Texture! Disturbed's version is so incredibly textured, if you don't feel it, you are dead. Best Cover Ever

I grew up on artists like Simon and Garfunkel, Neil Young, Cat Stevens, and a lot of classical. My dad was the source. He was a scholar, a teacher, a poet. He taught himself Latin, Greek, Aramaic and heaven knows what else. I never thought I'd appreciate a cover to a Simon and Garfunkel song, but this one was an instant hit with me when I first heard it. I played it for dad before he died. He also loved it.

10:15 I think the word you’re looking for is Disturbed. He rips right into your soul. For me, I first heard this when I was in a very dark mental space. I had grown up with Simon & Garfunkel’s creation. I was 3 when it was released in 1964 (if you haven’t heard their original version, you need to listen). Their version had always been calming. Like a fuzzy warm blanket on a chilly evening. I was at a point where I needed my security blanket. Instead, I stumbled upon Disturbed’s version. His vocals hit me hard. He laid bare my soul. He exposed so much pain and trauma that I had buried for decades. That first play through left me angry. How could he do that to me. But I started looking inside at the stuff that was brought up. And I had to listen again and again and again. I still love Simon & Garfunkel’s iconic creation. But Disturbed gives me far more feels. Good therapy. And a whole lot cheaper than psychotherapy.

Scottish lass here I saw this live at the hydro. All I can say is a still get chills! When everybody took out their phones for a torch (instead of old school lighters) it was incredible! Such an amazing memory.
