Crazy that in three straight years 76,77 and 78 Philadelphia and KC lost in the LCS. They both failed to make the playoffs in 79 but both got to the WS in 80 to face each other.
Reds have a 9 game world series winning streak and Willie Randolph has a 11 game postseason losing streak VS. The Reds. In 1975 Randolph's Pirates were swept 3 games to 0 in the 1975 NLCS against the Reds.
1976 Randolph's Yankees were swept 4 games to 0 in the world series against the Reds.
Finally in 1990 Randolph's Oakland A's were swept 4 games to 0 against the Reds in the world series.
No pitch clock needed with Jim Kaat! Kaat and Dick Allen had previously been with the White Sox. In the early to mid 1970s, the White Sox home and road uniforms were practically identical to those of the Phillies. All they really had to do was swap out the logos.
Back in 2008, I believe, FSOhio also did rebroadcasts of the 1976 World Series. Normally, I don't ask for rebroadcasts, but do you have those? They're more likely to be full games as the original copies are missing outs. For instance, the 1976 WS G1 OB is missing first two batters of the game, and the third game is missing the first batter. Game 2 also misses the first out.
I think it’s up for debate, this 1976 big red machine or the 1990 big red machine? Both teams won the World Series by sweep 🧹Both teams were equally great.
