This is the complete audio of NBC's Monday Night Baseball from April 8, 1974 when Hank Aaron hit his record-breaking 715th Home Run. 24 minutes of extant video from the broadcast is interspersed within it. The extant video is most of a pregame show, plus all game action related to Aaron's first two plate appearances culminating with the HR and ceremonies. That is all NBC apparently saved. The full audio is from a home recording.

Curt Gowdy, Tony Kubek and Joe Garagiola with the call.

You take Henry’s HRs away, and Henry STILL had over 3000 hits! What a treat to see Henry’s 715.

I have had an audio recording of NBC’s coverage since that night and am so glad to see it with the video again. Thanks for posting.

This is astonishing. Curt Gowdy famously had the HR call re-recorded after the fact, so to have the full uncut game available is quite an accomplishment. You're one of my favorite YouTubers, even if you are a Yankee fan ;)

For many, many years I had the front and back pages of the NY Daily News where Aaron tied Ruth, then broke the record. "Move Over Babe, Here Comes Henry" was one of the headlines. Being that my brother saved them on the day they happened, I gave them back to him. And he was stunned that I had them, he thought they were lost over 40 years ago.

1:21:20 Tony Kubeck totally on point: "I'm personally disappointed Commissioner (Bowie Kuhn) is not here." After Monte Irvin makes his speech, Atlanta fans boo the absence of Kuhn, who kept making excuses for why he couldn't be present - when everybody knows he wasn't interested in being present because of his attitude. Its his job...he was present at far more minor events. Clown.
