Dante's Inferno is an okayish God of War clone, that released right as people were getting so burnt out on God of War style action games that God of War would even remake itself. I had to spend a lot of time censoring video game breasts for this video. That alone makes me glad it didn't get a sequel. Here are it's sins.

I like how the first critique is him saying EA just copy the formula rather than doing their own thing when he’s literally doing CinemaSins formula. Irony is deep

If anything else, I think this game helped us learn more about Dart's search history.

Honestly, I really wish this game got a sequel. Some of the stuff in Purgatorio and Paradiso is freakin' WILD, and it never gets talked about because Inferno always steal the spot-light.
There's a reason the entire book trilogy had such an impact, not, you know, just the hell bit.

I actually really liked Dante's Inferno when I first got it, and it was one of the first games I 100%'d on my 360.
One quick thing you got wrong, the devs also changed Greed, since in the book it was a flat, ashen plain where hoarders and wasters would joust with sacks of gold, their faces warped and unreadable.
A different sort of irony than what we got in the game, but that's subtly for you.

It's explained right after completing the fight with Cerberus in Gluttony that the Hell that is being depicted and experienced by both Dante and the player is a Hell just for Dante. It explains why Florence was in the Circle of Violence, since Dante slaughtered countless lives, yet was never outright punished for it thanks to Florence. In a form of torment towards Dante, he has to face his demons, if you will.

he forgot to say that you can go all the way through, in hard mode, in your first try, just spamming crosses

The movie was really good and imo did a better job explaining a lot of details, & some of the changes make more sense like in the movie arms from hell forcefully sow that tapestry onto Dante after Lucifer takes Beatrice, it portrays his fathers sins better, shows y his brother was their(“God doesn’t condone violence of any kind” implying all crusaders were sent down there), limbo is more of like A giant white waiting room with a bunch of scholars arguing with each other, etc.

Coincidentally I actually have a copy of the divine comedy, I also I had no idea this game existed😅😅😅. On a different note this game is literally God of War but with a piece of classic literature on top

"Christianity just doesn't inspire the same creative streak as Greek or Norse mythology"
Diablo, Darksiders, Devil May Cry, Doom : ok

Dante’s Inferno is a game I haven’t thought about in years holy shit

@trunks1943 5 years ago

Because Lucifer said only those who's soul is black enougth can free thus the demons couldnt do it themselves.

I'd like a remaster of this one... Such a great game.

Dante’s inferno was one of my favorite single player games as a kid. I played it about 6 times or so and I had fun during every playthrough.

Wow, didn't expect this to get a Gaming Sins

I can't shake the feeling that it would be a great settings for a Souls-like game.

if I were told to make a trilogy of action games based on the divine comedy, I would personally start with paradiso and dante fighting his way into heaven to be with beatrice, then getting sent to hell for defying god for the first game. the second game would be dante fighting his way around hell while suffering for/ reflecting on his sins in life. and the last game would be purgatorio where dante fights his way up the mountain to purge himself of his sins and ending with him ascending into heaven to live out his afterlife.

The power of Satan is defeated by Dante saying he's sorry.

That's pretty much how Christianity works

I mean, all of that stuff that you said in the first sin may be absolutely true, but I also loved the hell out of Dante's Inferno the game, and still dream of the day where it either gets a rerelease or a sequel. Won't happen, I know, but it was the first hack and slash that I played, which is why I never registered how much of a clone of GoW it was.
