The Mass Effect trilogy is a storytelling miracle. We've never seen anything like it, and we may never see anything like it again. But...there's Mass Effect 3. EA only allowed BioWare two years to make Mass Effect 3, which meant streamlining the promised multitude of endings into three choices that didn't reflect the journey we'd taken. BioWare has given more context over the years through DLC campaigns, but Mass Effect 3 may never escape the shadow of its ending. Before the TV show drops on Amazon Prime, join me as we revisit Mass Effect 3 and fix it. Let's talk romance options, Kai Leng's email, the multiplayer, and our last ride with Garrus, Liara, Tali, Wrex, Ashley/Kaidan, EDI, Javik, Vega and more - and make this game the finale we all deserved.

Games In Order of Appearance:
Mass Effect 3 (2013)

"I'd let Garrus take out credit cards in my name" is the WILDEST expression of trust I've ever heard, and I also wholeheartedly agree

If there was the option to save both — your Mass Effect 3 villain should’ve been Jenkins. Imagine that.

“We are not going to have the starchild” already better than the original

I like the idea of using Ashley or Kadin instead of Kai Leng

@Shiren180 2 weeks ago

Replacing Kai Leng with a Winter Soldier'd Virmire Non-Survivor is inspired, but I find the suggestion to have multiple clones that you can kill kind of cuts the impact. Imo it would work better if it was just the one clone.

You just need two mods to fix ME3: Shut Up Leng and Anderson's Final Conversation Restored.

Rest in peace Marauder Shield, you were a true hero!

Another note, my biggest peeve is how the war assets on the citadel mean jack and shit, because no matter how strong the citadel forces are, it still gets captured by the reapers like it was nothing.

I think a better outcome would be that if your team mates survived the harbinger laser, they shouldn't be evaccing, they should be helping you to the laser so you don't have to fight marauder shield and the 3 husketeers as they fight them for you.

If this outcome comes true, you end up in the citadel to find out that it's a warzone of those who still survived the indoctrination trying their best to fight back against the reaper forces, helping Shepard to the control room, alongside the teammates that survived the rush to the laser.

The citadel specific war assets would basically paint how fast it's going to fall to the reapers. Strong war asset means there is hope for everyone still alive as they fight to their last breath, low war asset just shows desecrated bodies and death all around.

Once Shepard reaches the control room, everything else would play the same.

"fixed" is doing some very heavy lifting here. You've certainly changed it. I'm not sure how they would recover Kaidan's body if he were sitting next to a nuclear bomb when it detonated, though

Personally, i i would've ditched the organics vs synthetics narrative almost completely in favor of the original Drew Carpishen's concept about dark energy making galaxies implode. Refining this concept and putting it instead. Aside from that – you made a very good fixes.

It really should have been like ME2 where your ending depended on your performance and attention to detail. If you failed in uniting the galaxy, your cycle would be harvested like all the rest. ME2 had actual stakes, that's what made its suicide mission so amazing. If you didn't do everything in your power to prepare, you would lose people, and even yourself.

Your version is so much better. It's my head canon now

56:27 This line only works if u make peace between the two as saying to a reaper that u proved them wrong by killing one of the geth or quarrians is literally just proving them right as u only did a harvest on a smaller scale and without preserving any of the destroyed race

@gentlemanviking2644 2 weeks ago

Dude. I loved this. Every time I saw Kai Lang I was thinking, "Who the hell are you and why should I care?

Ok, someone mod this.

Sorry if this may need some AI for the voice lines, this has been done for the bring back Wong mod (I believe it's called Wong Lives or something) but if you can hire actors that can mimic the original voices for the missing parts, do it.

I've being saying the virmire survivor was a waisted thread for YEARS.

I would also make Cerberus only a small special operations branch of a larger Reaper cult that's been steadily growing for the last three years. The role Cerberus filled in the base game was as the generic indoctrinated faction, with inexplicably vast resources, planetary holdings, and entire fleets that rival those of entire races. It would be far more interesting to play into the Lovecraftian themes with a subversive Reaper cult that has people in plain clothes everywhere than to simply turn Cerberus into the Galactic Empire overnight.

Maybe in that first battle for Earth, some of the ships in the orbital defense fleet report mutinies on board before breaking communication and jumping out of system. Similar acts of mutiny and sabotage are then conducted by other species' own cultists, and you could even have prominent NPCs you interact with be indoctrinated, leaving you unsure of who to trust, creating a sense of paranoia that leaves you picking through the words of everyone you meet looking for tells that may not even be there. It would harken back to Battlestar Galactica, where any character on your screen could be a Cylon agent at any time.

As an additional curveball, you could also get intel that one of your own crewmates is an indoctrinated sleeper agent for the cult (randomized at the beginning of each playthrough from a predetermined list of suspects), dialing the paranoia up to eleven. It could be Traynor, Adams, Chakwas, Cortez, Donnelly, or Daniels. You'd have to piece together who the agent is based on what was sabotaged, who had an alibi, and their various skillsets. They might try and frame one of the others to throw you off. And if you guess wrong, you'd be killing an innocent person. You could also go the Renegade route and line them ALL up against the bulkhead for a lead bath just to be sure, which would lead to some very understandable tension amidst your crew, and might prompt some to outright leave.

Good ideas, but I still want an option to win a straight fight IF you got enough support. Not synthesis, control, or sacrificing the geth and edi, but an actual chance to win the war.
