I found this topic really interesting to cover.. if anybody is going through this rn i hope you're ok. Feel free to drop any insight down below if you have been through this and if you feel comfortable enough to<3

“people who need therapy don’t go to therapists, their victims do.” thought that quote would be fitting here.

I was one of those daughters, and it destroys you

It really sucks that so many people's first bullies are their own parents.

"You've only got one mum"
Yea, you only got one appendix too, but you cut that bastard out if it's toxic.

My mother has been having an affair with my ex for 4 years. She told me about it when my dad (who was her husband, until his death) was still alive, and apparently I'm the bad person, because I don't speak to her. Go figure.

Every child deserves a parent, but not every parent deserves a child.

Being the hated daughter with two younger sisters who were absolutely "perfect" is a special kind of hell

Usually, when a mother hates her daughter, she absolutely hates herself

It’s creepy to be jealous of your daughter. I think my daughters are gorgeous- more than I ever was- and I am so proud of all they’ve accomplished! Feeling jealous or threatened seems SO weird. I can’t even fathom.

Normalise cutting off family that make you feel bad.

The worst part of all of this is when you finally come to accept that your mom just doesn’t love you, everyone you talk to about it is always like “OH NO BUT YOU HAVE TO LNOW SHE DOES ACTUALLY LOVE YOU CUZ SHES UR MOM SND YOURE HER DAUGHTER” and it’s like please shut the fuck up

I look like a bridge troll, but no matter how raggedy I was looking, my mother ALWAYS told me that I was beautiful. She'd often greet me with "Hey beautiful!" I miss her so much. 😭

My mom would always tell me “you’re not special” and then go to one of my brothers and tell them how “special” they were as she held their face gently and glared at me. And of course when I confronted her about it as a teen she said I made it up, but she doesn’t realize that shit is burned into my heart and head.

The mom telling her little daughter dancing that she sucks was a special kind of upsetting

The worst is when you smile through the entire time of someone saying "you suck, you suck, etc" THAT'S trauma at a young age, for sure.

Being ragebaited by your own mother is the worst psychological torture.

9:43 I heard a psychologist once say that if siblings hate each other, it’s because the parents have been playing them off of each other to cause the arguments on purpose. It makes sense now looking back… My sister and I used to fight all the time and we hated each other… but reflecting back on it, any time that her or I went shopping together or were home alone together, we didn’t have a problem at all. The fighting only happened when we were both around our mum. Now that we live on our own as adults etc she’s my favourite person in the whole world💕

What makes having a mom like this even worse is that they will never admit to doing any of it. As far as they are concerned they were the best parent they could have possibly been

CPS might not have SAID anything about the bed but they definitely NOTED that there are no beds.

Growing up with a parent who is controlling and overly critical is a special kind of hell.
