I find it fascinating that Peeping Tom killed Powell’s career while at the same time the similarly themed Psycho revived Hitchcock’s career and Hitchcock rode out the rest of his career riding on that praise.

Donnie Darko, the movie set in the Eighties where everyone in the movie has clothes and haircuts from the 2000s

I loved Titan AE as a kid. I still have it on vhs

I love Don Bluth's animated films. They were a huge part of my childhood in the 80s and early 90s.

It's sad to see Don Bluth on here. He really did try to buck the American animation system. I loved The Secret Of Nimh, An American Tale and A Land Before Time. Josh Trank would be one that belongs on this list.

The box was a twilight zone episode, which was very good. The movie went for another hour with no content.

Another example of this is "Dracula" director Tod Browning. He was a very successful film maker who had worked with the great Lon Chaney many times and made some of Lon's greatest films. Then he made "Freaks" in 1932 and never worked on anything substantial again.

Peeping Tom is interesting because Michael J. Murphy did a "so bad its good" low budget movie called Bloodstream that has a really similar premise

That movie definitely didn’t end John singleton snow fall was a massive hit

I've always liked The Spirit. I used to take groups of my friends to the theater to see if when it came out. I'd gather them in the lobby and tell them: "This isn't Din City. And it isn't Will Eisner. Just imagine Frank Miller took the old Batman TV show, and gave it a BUNCH of really good dr*gs! Have fun!" And without exception, everyone always had a good time. Still turning people on to it to this day.

7:26 Harsh but not completely wrong, this movie felt like it was not worth the effort so he probably just saw it as a quick paycheck.

I like Smith's comment on Kelly. It's true, I remember Memento and Donnie Darko both being released around the same time, and just being completely blown away by both of them. And seeing both movies around the age ~18 it really sculpted my perception of film from then on.

Titan A.E. is the most criminally underrated animated movie. I would put it above anything Disney has ever made.

I have been always fascinated by Southland Tales, it's nothing like I've seen before. First saw it in 2008 and it never really left my mind.

Titan A.E. is, in my opinion, a fantastic sci-fi animated movie, which was unjustifiably bashed and called "banal" and "sloppy" by the same people who treat Disney like infallible gods despite repeatedly pushing the same princess slop out the door.

i re-watched The Box, it gets better every time i watch

11:05 I LOVED this movie. It came out when I was 20& I remember watching it in the theater with my boyfriend at the time.

I enjoyed Peeping Tom and Ishtar a lot. I always find it surprising when some directors are allowed only one flop despite having so much previous success. A good example is Martin Brest. He directed Midnight Run, Beverley Hills Cop, and Scent of a Woman back to back between 1984 and 1992. Then in 2003 he does Gigli and never directs again. Maybe that was a personal decision by him, but it always struck me as a bit odd. As terrible as Gigli was, surely someone would have given him another chance with a track record like that.

I recall seeing “Peeping Tom” when, after years of suppression, it was finally rereleased. It wasn’t easy to sit through, and even though I would have opposed its having been suppressed, I can understand why, given the time of its release, it received the negative reaction it garnered. By today’s standards, it might well appear tame, but 1960 was a different era.

I love Elaine May, she is a very interesting director. I find some of the behind the scenes stories about the production of Mikey and Nicky fascinating. I remember hearing a story about how during the edit, she was requesting shots that they never actually shot. The woman was editing the movie based on scenes still in her head! She also kept rolling on a scene, after Falk and Cassavetes had exited, because she believed that the characters might come back! She's also a great actor, I loved her in the underrated 1967 comedy Luv, where she gets to play opposite Peter Falk and Jack Lemon.
