My goal is to e like Jimmy... don't switch, just buy more systems!

That dopamine rush though

Being a better photographer isn't anywhere near as exciting as fiddling with a new toy.  I should know.  My "inner" voice always tells me to just let go and keep it simple.

I've owned a bunch of different systems, and I've decided that Sony FF and Olympus is all I need, and I wouldn't get rid of either.

I've shot on M43 since 2016, starting with Panasonic, then transitioning to OMS in 2022, but carrying over some of my lenses. Sticking with M43 has made things easier. I do like some aspects of FF and long for it at times, but it's just not worth changing so drastically. You lose out on a lot by doing that. You really have to be invested in changing as you'll lose money on the gear and getting into something completely different. I appreciate your video and point of view, Jimmy. Best of luck with the continued jury duty!

For most ppl maybe. I switched from 5D Mark IV and nice lenses to M43 and 9 lenses. I have a disability though and it's hard for me to lift a big DSLR 🙏

Three and a half years ago, I switched from the Canon R system to Micro Four Thirds with the OM-1. I recouped about 85% of the purchase price of my R system by selling it. I now own an OM-1 Mark II and an OM-3 and am very happy with the system. Nevertheless, I got the urge to go full-frame again and now also have a Panasonic Lumix S1 II with Sigma Art and Sports lenses. If I had to stick with one system, it would be OM.

Some times you need to switch system within the sytem. Over my 20 years with Canon, I did it 2 times: 1. APS-C to FF and 2. DSLR to mirrorless. Each time swapping all cameras and lenses. Financially it was tough, but I was very happy with the improvements I got, so no regrets. And while I'm very happy with all of my Canon stuff, it doesn't deliver everything. No brand does. Therefore last year I added OM System as second system for specific uses, where it has advantages. No swapping everything this time.

Wise advice Jimmy!

Switching is bad, but adding a new system is good! 🙌🏽

You are one of the few on YouTube that make total sense, and you are being transparent by showing the systems that you use and why.

You will have other YouTubers say in their caption that I'm switching systems, but next week or next year, you will see them back with what they had.

I would say, if you are considering switching, rent other cameras. That way, you don’t take that huge loss, and you aren't committed, and you have time to make a competent choice.

I see the appeal switching systems. Its fun. Ive never switched.  Wanted a smaller camera for travel. Instead I bought  a small(er) 35 mm lens for my R5.

Switching is stupid, that’s why I’m in 3 different systems 😮😢😢😢

I was squinting my eyes wondering which m43 camera that was until you mentioned it was the S9. Beautiful camera.

I use m43 & FF parallel. Perfect combi...!!!

Loved this video.

I switched from Canon to Sony to Olympus.
Been with Olympus for a few years now and it is a great system for me. Street, family, travel photography are great with my EM-5 II.

Thanks Jimmy! This was very timely for me. I shall stick with my Zf and banish this horrible GAS attack. Not long winded. Very sensible advice! Keep up the great work and have a great 2026.

I have used various camera systems professionally, starting back with film in the 1960s, using large format the medium format cameras, then going to 35mm, which was the format of my first film camera, a Contax RF setup gifted to me my one of my photography mentors.  I was also,a long time Nikon user, starting with the Nikon F1, then going switched to,the Contax 35mm film SLRs for a lighter and more compact system, wore, that camera out.  I also, shot with the first Nikon/Kodak digital camera which was an APSC format in the 1990s, si my first digital camera was a “cropped” sensor camera, but that term and full frame 35mm digital didn’t exist then.  I could say going from medium format to 35mm, a 35mm camera was a “cropped” format camera 😅.

I was introduced to MFT, whilst using Nikon D7200 system, in the form of professional cinema cameras, as I was doing independent TV production shooting.  I fell in love with the Panasonic Leica lenses, for me the lens is the most important part of a camera system.  The camera body is just a box to hold, the film/sensor and lens.  The camera was a Panasonic AF100 and later Blackmagic Cine cameras using the MFT mount.  I liked the compactness of the MFT lenses, and the excellent Image quality of the Lanny Leica lenses, reminding me of the Leica M lenses I used on the M4.  The small 23:24 MFT camera systems reminded me of the original Olympus PenF film camera, which I,loved as a small travel camera setup (I,was, shooting professionally with medium format at the time).  I did get Nikon’s first mirror less camera, the Nikon 1 system, which was very interesting, even a bit on the small size, smaller than MFT., but the one inch sensor on the Nikon 1 was limiting, and the camera a bit fiddily   Then Olympus release the PenF digital MFT camera, and I got one right away, I already had the lenses in my Penny/Leica MFT lenses.  When Nikon released their next mirrorless system, the Nikon Z system I had to give one a go, as a former Nikon user, and to the Z6, but the Z lenses turned out to be much bigger than their Nikon F counterparts, the OQ was grand, the the system got too,big and heavy for me at my age now.  So, I sold the Z setup, managed to get my money back with only a 10% loss.  Now I am back to,shooting with my Olympus Pen F, and the new OM3 is calling me….

The PenF is excellent as a travel, and documentary/street photography camera, but a bit limiting for the landscape work I want to do.  So Jimmy, since we have similar backgrounds, shooting professionally in a variety of disciplines, what would be a better camera for land scape and wildlife shooting, the OM1 or the OM3?  The OM3 is more of an upgrade on the PenF sharing similar control setup and dials so less of a learning curve.  The OM1 offers an upgrade on the EVF at a much higher resolution, which is impotent with my aging eyes.  My first experience with a digital EVF was with cinema cameras, and got spoiled by their high resolution compared to mirrorless camera EVFs, the Nikon Z6 also had a excellent EVF, I wear glasses (near sighted).  The EVF on the OM1 is tempting.
I have a chance to get either one at a good price from OM Systems directly.  Cheers

I've been an Olympus digital shooter from 2008 till yesterday. I'm now changing systems to shoot a Nikon Zf. I'm looking forward to using all my film era lenses on this camera (like I did on the Olympus).

I will miss my EM1 MkII but I couldn't afford to have two systems (and my wife has the EM10 MkIV so it isn't all gone).

Now if you wanna talk about film camera systems, that's a whole 'nother story 😁

A video that is the result of a lot of experience and professional maturity 🎉💯❤🎵🎶🎵
