Returning guest? How did I miss her first appearance? I love you both.

She is certainly on a hero's journey, we shall see where she ends up! Pay her attention!

Oh wow... What a pleasant surprise I really like her channel

Unexpected crossover 🎉

55:00 It feels like men are still thinking about Barbie more than women at this point. I love that.

Oh this is a treat

Joomi is such a baddie. 😮😍

I love her channel.

01:03:37 yes, it was called Highlander. The TV series fleshed-out the idea more than the movies. Turns out, the long lifespan was just a kind of magic.

Have you seen a channel called Second Story? Might be an interesting interview.

One interesting series that covers the immigration debate is Jack Vance's trilogy Araminta Station, Ecce and Old Earth, and Throy. It's SF, so has the freedom of not addressing a specific real world example. But, the books are all about illegal immigration and the effects thereof.

Gas prices because of foreign intervention? Or because of crazy state taxes piled up on top of current prices?

Boyce, yes, just put the books out. You are right that by doing it, it will come. For me, it always comes in dreams. But perfectionism is the enemy.

Shout out to my homie Bartleby 🤙

People want to feel/be heroic. Read some Ernest Becker, (the Denial of Death).

RE: The cultural critique of people who enjoyed citizen vigilante: They are enjoying a fantasy while the left is actually destroying lives. There’s no comparison.

I just found Joomi,.I love her content. And your doc from Evergreen helped mentally prepare me for the horror woke circus here in Ireland.

I've always been highly sceptical of this suicidal empathy or guilt narrative around ww2 and immigration. It's not to say it has no explanatory power, but to me it seems more ancillary or downstream to larger things, as in nobody would actually say the average person just picks up a completely unbiased history book and suddenly feels a deep sense of guilt over ww2 and thus votes for endless immigration or abortion etc, this was not true directly after the war, nor was it true all the way up into the 90s, but suddenly, in the early 2000s exclusively Europeans became racked with guilt over the holocaust (of which their ancestors died in a war fighting the perpetrators) and voted to import Mumbai into their cities (and ironically in many European countries they expressly voted against immigration every chance they got, yet still received it)? Does anyone actually even remotely think this is what is actually happening? Certainly ww2 is used as a cudgel to beat people into social submission, but to me the operative function appears to be social conformity more than some deep sense of guilt over defeating the Germans in ww2, because if it was actually guilt they would be acting completely differently. To expand a bit, people are not guilty about the holocaust, but rather shamed by the accusation of being a Nazi which is a complete social taboo, far different psychological phenomena. When I look back on WW2 I just feel a sort of resigned tragedy, and in many ways my English and French ancestors were just as immoral as their enemies, firebombing children on purpose, being dishonourable, allying with evil themselves, nobody covered themselves in glory in ww2 and afterwards was perhaps even worse, because the way they treated the defeated foe was brutal beyond belief and all sense of honour flew out the window. WW2 wasn't some moral victory, it was a complete debasement for everyone involved.

I did like Gad Saad's book Parasitic Mind, but it strikes me as one of the main proponents of this suicidal empathy line that he fails to really meet his own cumulative evidence standard to any reasonable level. To be fair I haven't read his latest book and don't really plan on it, but from all the videos I've seen from him about the topic his framework for suicidal empathy being so pivotal seems to be thin gruel, and he doesn't appear to engage any serious criticism of him emphasizing it so much. I also like to think I've read a decent amount for a non academic, and I've certainly watched a lot of videos about this general topic, and not once have I actually heard someone seriously make the case for suicidal empathy beyond just parroting it as some sort of received wisdom, a 'just so' story that seems reasonable on its face. I remember watching Harrison Pitt, Martin Sellner and Renaud Camus talking recently and finding it odd the amount of stock Camus put in the idea of ww2 guilt being the reason for the fall, even he at some point seemed a bit lost as to exactly how it does so.
