After watching your kitchen upgrades video my upgrade will definitely be bespoke end panels, many thanks.

Considering underbench lighting definitely and more drawers!

put a power point inside a draw and then you can have a toaster kettle sandwich press etc all plugged in hidden and easy to use by just pulling the draw out, my friend did is and its very la de da

Totally picked up a number of ideas to improve my ideas and design - thanks 😊

Some great tips here. I am about to embark on a kitchen project so this is very helpful. I am not sure I fully understood the point about end panels. Hopefully you have more videos on this?

Totally agree with the loud extractor fan, that will be a priority when I get to design a kitchen. I currently toggle between smoking the place out and having a conversation 😂.

Serious question though, I also agree with having as many appliances integrated as possible. Any idea on what to do with the tricky ones like the toaster and airfryer? They essentially get used daily, so it's a bit of pain to be getting them in and out all the time but keeping them in a pantry cupboard seems a bit dangerous and smelly.

I'm already half way through my kitchen renovation so it's too late to change anything, but it's good to know that I did some things right. My kitchen is a small L shaped one, so things are within reach. I got LED under cabinet lights and also have my units mostly 600mm, including both my tall units. I am a coffee addict so I got a coffee station, integrated everything, 2 sets of drawers instead of 1 and got 20mm quartz. I didn't have pull out for the corner because they were expensive and I don't really use the corner other than to toss kitchen towels and bin bags in. I have went with the two tone of black and rose pink with black hardware, and then for my coffee station I got reeded paneling from wood veneer hub with wooden shelves. I don't need a boiler tap though, because I rarely drink tea and most of my teas are Japanese which need to be at certain temperatures, so I use a temp control kettle because boiling water burns many asian teas.

We’re planning an in-frame shaker kitchen. How do you feel about pilasters on the island for giving a timeless and bespoke feel?

1:47 The lights aren’t just messy, they’re installed in the wrong place! They shouldn’t be at the back of the wall cabinets where they basically light the backsplash. They should be under the front of the wall cabinets where the light is centered over the work surfaces. It appears later in the video as though the “better” lights are installed wrong as well.

No waterfall ends because they are in the danger zone for being hit and chipped or cracked.

2:11 Or just magically making your kitchen wider by 300mm? 3x300 became 2x600?

@trinaroe5132 7 months ago (edited)

2:11 I think the before looked better. The width was more cohesive with the rest of the cabinets. I also like narrower cabinets for adjustability, though that is typically more for shallower tall units with shelves, but if pullouts are adjustable I suppose it could apply to deeper cabinets as well. The wider the pullout/shelf the more likely there is wasted dead space above because you have to adjust for the tallest item on that shelf and the less likely it is that you have that many items if the same height. Narrower shelves/pullouts allow you to adjust differently on the left/right and add additional shelves or pullouts as needed to use that space more efficiently.
