If you're watching this thinking, ‘I wish all of these Japanese rules were in one place,’ that's exactly why I made The Complete Japanese Method.

It's not another list of organizers or things to buy. It's the full household system for owning carefully, wasting less, staying organized, and keeping unnecessary spending under control. It's not for everyone, but if that's how you want your home to work, you'll get a lot out of it.

The complete guide is at https://thejapanesemethod.com/

I started declutterring  for 15 minutes a day.  Day one: Two dresser drawers empty.  Day two: Half my hanging clothes gone. Day 3: bathroom cabinet, expired stuff trashed. Every morning, it’s a habit now to declutter 15 minutes. Thank you for the advice.

This is the absolute best declutter video I have ever seen!! I am a mature woman and widow and I have purposely gotten rid of 90% of everything we owned in our large home over 50+ years. Also sold the house for a much smaller one. Life never felt so good and free!❤

Been a minimalist for over 40 years. Loving these tips!!

Clothing, a couple of dishes and 3 Pillows are gone for good. Thx for the service! :)

My big rule is that the coffee maker and mugs go in the dining area. On a buffet. Basically put it where you use it. I’m only one person, but I keep a set of three plates, bowls, and small plates. That’s more than enough for one day.

You know something else I just realized a lot of these things that I’ve been keeping in the past like the first gift I got for my first Mother’s Day, which was 37 years ago, little knickknacks and letters. My son wrote to me when he was in Boot Camp… He’s been retired from the army for a few years now… I just realized that if I was to pass tomorrow, nobody would want any of that stuff because it really doesn’t mean anything because the memory is in me so yeah, I could see what they mean by letting go of some of the things that you think mean a lot but quite honestly if anybody else looked at it, it would go in the trash bin

I discovered you this morning and I’ve already watched three of your videos. I am quite a minimalist myself, but I still very much enjoyed your shows and learning about the Japanese concepts that you shared. I will keep on watching. Keep up the great work. By the way, I find you quite humorous.

The visuals in this video are great.

We have no closet for linens or coats, and none in the bathroom. We live this way out of necessity!

Why do I love watching these so much?!❤

I  have lived in Japan 37 years. In my experience most Japanese could use this advice. Their homes ( or apartments mostly) are full. Not uncluttered by any means. 😊

i've been a minimalist for over 10 years. Loving these litthe things!!

Appreciate the constant flow of vids!

Changing my seasonal clothing and limiting my wardrobe to 40 pieces. Thanks.

Sheesh I never realized how de-cluttered my house truly is until I saw this video… there are some lessons I’m learning because there were objects that I was keeping because they were given to me by someone or for some reason, I was keeping about five sheets sets and quilts per bed, which is probably why I have two linen closets full of this stuff so that will be taken care of today.
But the  BIGGEST lesson I’ve learned from this channel is the treat every day like the gift it is, special so I got rid of all of the cheap every day dishware and mismatched wine glasses and instead I brought out the Limoges set and the 1940s antique cocktail and wine glasses that have been sitting on shelves waiting for a special occasion which probably happened twice in the past 15 years and now that is what we use every day… It feels so fancy and so nice that was probably the best tip I found everything else I already do. My counters are practically empty. I don’t have anything on my tables. The only thing on the floor is a basket with some blankets and we use those every day and of course my plants.

I have 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 1 bathmat and 1 set of sheets, good quality. I love the simplicity. 4 mugs and 8 each dinner plate supper plate and bowl. Cleaning is easy. I am not burdened by material possessions owning valuable real estate in my cupboards. (I won’t mention my 12 sewing machines and fabric collection)

Changing the clothing with the seasons used to be something we did. When I was growing up, we lived in a very old house with very small closet space. I mean, the closet in each bedroom was only two feet wide. My mom would help each of us go through our closet every Fall and Spring. We would wash and then fold and put away, in a box, the clothes from the previous season. Then the box went on a shelf at the top back corner of the closet. It worked for us. Then we remodeled our house and some bedrooms got larger closets. So the clothes just stayed in the closet and we just got more clothes. As an adult, I have been wishing for a larger closet. My clothes are crowded. I can barely see what is there because it is all crammed in there. Now I can realize that what I really need is to put away in a box, clothes that are out of season. I also realize that I have many clothes that were from a different decade, a different employment, and I haven’t worn for 15 years. I could get rid of those and would not feel that I needed a bigger closet or a bigger house.

We did animal rescue and fostered kitties over the years. About 20 (not all at once obviously) but over the course of 30 years spread out. Paper towels are essential when you have pets in my opinion. The messes you need to clean make the description of “essential” more true. I would assume with little kids and pets even more accurate lol.

I just did the mugs and the pots and pans!   Thank you for the inspiration and easy to follow instructions!
