Why do people talk about physical vs "digital"? With the exception of vinyl and cassettes, nearly all physical media is digital — CDs, DVDs, blurays, etc...

Repeat after me.

I will own whatever I want and I will be happy and I am prepared to fight for it.

My physical collection of books, DVD, games, and CDs make my small apartment a bit cluttered, but it's worth it to have media that can't be taken away.

Let’s get physical……media

Let's see WHEN  people will FINALLY understand how IMPORTANT physical media are and that it is THE ONLY WAY !!!

I was always a dvd advocate, since I was little, I grew up with no internet making me custom to disc format. I will always love my discs.

I've been collecting DVDs since I was a kid and I'm continuing to do so now. I'll never stop collecting

After movies and shows started getting removed, it resparked me wanting to collect movies again

Your pride in your things really shines through. Long live physical media.

I miss the extras on the DVDs.  They were so great.

The most important part of a collection is the fact that it’s curated! For me, each disc in my collection is something I hand picked, or it was given to me with my preferences in mind.

With streaming, it’s definitely fun to watch something new, but you’re looking through a random list of movies, and there’s so many nights where I want to enjoy a media I know and love, where I don’t have to worry about accessing it. How many times do people get the “here are movies like this movie you’re looking for!” Worst screen ever bro.

Loved all of your points!! Sometimes it’s really nice to hear a deep dive into why people love to collect. It makes it really fun to feel connected together in this hobby we share.

BluRay snob here! Thank you for this video. I’ve actually reversed my thoughts on DVD. You’re absolutely right about all your points in this video. Incredible work brother

A couple of my favorite bonus features:

I have Ghostbusters 1 & 2 on dvd and not only does it come with a booklet with concept art, actor profiles and a fake Stay Puft ad, but the disc for the second movie features two whole episodes of the animated series.

I also have some of these Muppet Show dvds that each have 3 episodes of the show. Each episode starts with an intro by Brian Henson and they feature exclusive mini skits

Thanks for reminding of these and this whole vid

I still have all my VHS and DVDs that my parents collected and gave to me. They take up so much space (most walls in my house are covered with shelves), and I dread the day I have to move but I also wouldn't have it any other way.

I recently rewatched Honey I Shrunk the Kids on VHS and loved it. Maybe it's just nostalgia but I really do love the grainy quality of these films and the ads that play before and the little shorts that they might play. Even when my collection inevitably deteriorates, I'll never surrender physical media!

MISSING THE BONUS FEATURES IS A BIG DEAL!

Suggestion for future moves:  place cardboard over the front of your media shelf and then wrap industrial-strength plastic wrap around the entire shelf multiple times til secure (you can also add a few packing straps over the plastic wrap if needed).  Then all you need is a dolly to move the entire shelf around with your media tucked safely inside. Unwrap it in its new home & you’re done.

My life is been in a serious rut lately, but something that will always lift my spirits if only for a moment, is popping in one of my favorite movies and immersing myself in the story, and what helps is that a lot of those movies come from my dad's 30 year long DVD collection, and with it the nostalgia of feeling like a kid again

I feel this so hard with music discs... sure, we can collect vinyls, but looking for CDs on music stores was so great back in the day

Thank you so many times validating the necessity for physical media.
