How do you actually live in an apartment this small?

In some of Tokyo’s tiniest apartments, everyday life has to fit into just a few square meters — sleeping, cooking, showering, doing laundry, storing clothes, and everything else.

But tiny doesn’t necessarily mean unlivable.

In this video, we step inside the world of Japan’s ultra-compact apartments to see how people actually make these spaces work.

Where do you sleep?
Can you really cook?
Where does everything go?
What do you have to give up?
And why would anyone choose to live here?

For some residents, the trade-off can be surprisingly simple: less space in exchange for lower rent or a better location.

By the end, there’s only one question left:

Could YOU live here?
