Fun fact: the head of the Statue of Liberty is actually even SMALLER in real life than it appears in this film - they made it bigger after test audiences commented that it looked too small to be "realistic" (even though it was originally modeled to be EXACTLY the correct size!). Just a cool example of how our public perception of things can be really skewed.

Fun Fact: Similar to how Godzilla was used as a metaphor for the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Cloverfield is pretty much a metaphor for 9/11

I saw this in theaters while visiting NYC. It was very disorienting to walk out of the theater and see the city still intact lol

The lore is that - even as big as she is - Clover is just a baby!

I went to the midnight screening of this in high school with a couple friends and it was a blast! The theater gave everyone in the audience a disposable camera.

Fun Fact: At the very end of the credits there's a secret radio transmission and when you reverse it you hear someone say... "It's still alive"

The monster design is so cool and from what I remember, I think the creators said it was a baby. Such a good movie

I remember I went to see this movie as a preteen kid with my mom and older sister who was a horror junkie. I got so scared I insisted on leaving with my mom when the bridge fell and the brother character died. The two of us snuck in the another lobby that was playing Enchanted instead. My sister ended up being one of a handful of people that watched the movie all the way through and she was pissed at the ending being so bleak.

Final Destination absolutely

Love this movie and i like that they set up the characters relationships relatively organically. And having Rob basically take what his brother said in their last heart to heart talk just before the attack was good.

Give me anything you want, I will take it. A movie you've alredy seen? Gimme. A movie you've never seen? Gimme. A movie I've already seen? Gimme. Just give me whatever you want to make. No need for seriousness, you can be your usual selves. Love you both so much

Same day? No way! If y’all are taking recommendations and haven’t seen them yet, “X” “Pearl” and “Maxxxine” I think would be great for this.

Have y'all seen REC (2007)? I think that's a film you'd really enjoy!

The next cloverfeild film is supposed to be a direct sequel to this. This movie was HUGE when it came out

Watched this as a sophomore in college, TERRIFIED me for over a week. I was paranoid that at any second, a beast would suddenly appear. Had nightmares 😭😭
Now this is one of my favorite series. 😍 Amazing way to tell a scifi mystery, but through a different trope/ genre each movie.
Praying you watch all 3 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 They do explain the origin of the monster(s) in the last one
