If you don't like moulded flights, just use Winmau Vecta stems, they hold the flight so tight you never have to worry about the flight popping off

I switched to molded and I love them.

I switched to molded some time ago. Deflections and bounceouts  was increasing quite a bit, especially with dartbarrels with rounded fronts.
BUT, after using the Target K-shifts since they launched this was pretty much eliminated for me.
With that said I don’t have my dart standing up in the board but have them lying flat. If your darts is standing up, that system Is probably not for you since you can’t use the darts in the board to guide the next dart into the board since the flight will rotate out of the way most of the time for incoming darts.

I use a combo system. Robinson flights with stems.

Excellent video as usual. Thank you for great info 👍

I feel I play better with moulded but they do break relatively often for me once they’ve bounced out a few times. Metal folded seems to cope fine with the bounce outs but I do feel I lose a bit of performance so I’m still undecided on this topic myself

I settled on the Robson flight which gives the best of both worlds, particularly if you put it on a spinning shaft. I tried K-FLex and got loads of deflections, and it is really expensive to go through the variety of molded systems.

Such good incite.  I use a spinning barrel so molded just don’t work because of the stiffness. Harder the flight the faster they spin. Fast spin more violent deflections.  So I use 75 micron cheap flexible pear shaped folded flights. They work but if my Voks elc pointed Destroyers weren’t spinning barrels I would use molded for sure.

I made a video on testing all of the popular moulded (all-in one) systems a couple of years bac - the options of brands and styles have probably doubled at a minimum since then. I do think there is genuinely a moulded system that can suit any player whether its all in one or something like L-style

I’ve found a nice middle ground between the two methods. I use a Harrows Carbon 360 with a Shot Airfoil flight. For me it’s the perfect combination.

I think the way the darts flies with each system is different as well , the moulded seems to be faster and flat, while folded have a slower feel

Well, a) I rather have the flight pop off and the dart stick into the group tightly. It's a feature, even though I understand the house dart side of problems. and b) I can prepare multiple folded setups sitting in my case ready to use as well. I'll have two sets of darts fully equipped anyway, but if it was important, I'd be prepared for more. Just as with molded, there are also different types of folded flights. Some will look battered after a few throws, some will take it better, especially if your dart has a front taper and you maybe eliminated the lip completely. I've even customized some barrels to smoothly transition with a regular point. Using rings and a flight protector and having worn in the flight's spine the angle will be almost perfect as well. What I do get is that you might not want to fiddle with all the components until you found your perfect setup. Haven't had the Mission equivalent yet, so I can't judge on your Vortex, but I've had plenty and even though I sometimes play the others for reference, preferably Condor Axe or L-Style, I keep trusting my old folded ones.

Andy,
I am wondering why you didn’t bring up the use of specialty points such as Mission Snipers which eliminate the lip where the point enters the barrel.
To me this is the single most reason flights get chewed up.
I am using both Molded and Folded but all of my darts have specialty points installed with a few sets using the trident 180 nose cones.  I simply won’t throw any darts anymore that have a lip at the front.

Moulded, but L-style ez with what stem combination I want, currently Harrows 360 Carbon Short with the L-Style.  Works great for me and the case issue is huge.  None seem to completely hold the moulded systems and supplies without some compromise.

As a casual player I'm sticking to folded purely on ease of carrying I've an old threefold leather wallet that I can actually get three sets in and it just slips in my pocket
The metal or plastic flight protectors will square up your flights but I tried them years ago and they were fiddly as hell to get on and chewed my flights up To be honest at the standard I play these days perfect allignment doesn't make much difference

The one where Andy says that pubs and clubs prefer the moulded is a bit of a suspect conclusion because he said they are happy when he gives them out, which indicates free ones. I doubt if that is the case if they are paying for the moulded flights considering the huge price difference. That was also true with trying out ALL the different moulded stems, you better have a good bit of cash to do that compared to trying different folded ones. In the end it comes down to budget, and then preference, just like barrels, many people would love to use the $200/300 dollars darts, but happily play with darts closer to personal budget. I have used moulded, but on a new set broke one and that cost put me off, but can see both sides.

ive used folded for 10+ years, and ive tried to pick up moulded. But as you said in this video. I just cant get my 2. and 3. dart to stick to the board if the first dart is at the same place. And i just dont fancy spending money on more brands, than ive already done. To try and find that one moulded system that works for my throw..

And the only reason why i would like to play with moulded is for the 90 degree angles, so i dont have to fiddle with my darts constantly :D

I dont know if its because i use very long stems, i use the 48mm ones, with a standard 100 micron flight. With the L-style shell locking system. Were i punch out a hole in the flight for the lock. Wich helps alot with robin hoods. That i cant find a moulded system that can replace my original setup.

I moved to moulded after issues getting flights in mid match due to being in a rush to get them in and them getting more nervous cus they wouldn’t go in

Tbf I've tried both. Personally I prefer folded. I tried the molded mission ones and they were OK I just couldn't settle with them.

Each to their own as Andy says but I've changed to molded recently and I doubt I'll ever turn back. Way more handy, reliable, consistent and my darts case has become a lot less cluttered.  Just moved from a No#2 Flight to a #2 KFlex and the trajectory of dart and number of deflections is the same.
