On July 10, 2026, an 83-year-old Ontario woman who had told her care home that MAiD conflicted with her Christian faith received it anyway. Her family was in the room.
In the second part of this investigation, the family members who were there describe in their own words what they saw: the ten days while her power of attorney was away, the Monday confrontation, the capacity assessment they sat through before being sent out of the room, and the morning of July 10, when they say the doctor proceeded without the verbal yes they had been told GG would have to give.
This is the family's account. The care home and the attending physician were contacted in writing, with a deadline, and did not respond. The family has requested the underlying records and has filed complaints with Ontario's Office of the Chief Coroner and the Patient Ombudsman, and engaged the Ministry of Long-Term Care.
