Every dragon in HTTYD gangsta till they get an Unknown ambush and a red odd comet is coming down at them at sound-breaking speeds.

Hes called "King of the skies" for a REASON. Having stamina to fly for 3 days straight is pretty good.

King of the Skies will prevail, unless Steve the pinecone shows up.

Just as a mh nerd, rathalos lore wise does have the title king of the skies for a reason and is actually quite good at air combat but no cutscenes really show it ever sadly

hey uh, monster veteran here since 2010 (3 Tri) and i just gotta say three things.

1. Monster weakness only relates to Hunters and their weapons. This is shown in multiple cutscenes and ecology videos on the monsters (Lagiacrus is great example of this, along with Rajang, with Rajang even living in a extremely cold habitat despite being weak to ice.)

2. Rathalos are insanely durable, infact all Monster Hunter monsters are even some small monsters. Ik these guys do come from a game series so they have to be durable for gameplay reasons, but none the less the feats of what these monsters can shrug off should be accounted for from 3 factors, monster vs monsters, monsters vs hunters, and monsters vs environmental damage.

3. Turf wars dont really prove that once monster is stronger than another, its there to help the player teach us about threat levels of monsters, and in lore it tells us where these monsters lie on the food chain and their respected ecosystems. (example, Anjanath vs Rathalos will always show Rath winning cause hes only the apex predator of the respected habitat. This is shown when only one monster takes damage during the Turf War. but when both monsters take damage like Brachydios and Rathalos, then its classed as a draw match. meaning they are both a respected threat level and fall under a high place in the ecosystem.)

Hope this helps  when ever u do more monster hunter content!!
Id also recommend Oceaniz on yt or Banned Gammoth on twitter for more in depth Monster Hunter lore.

Ok ok I need to clear things up.

Brachydios is nowhere near the strength of a Raging Brachydios. Raging Brachydios are covered in the most explosive slime mold in the world of MH, and any Brachydios that comes in contact with risks their own life trying to tame the mold. Those that survive that slime mold become Raging Brachydios, the strongest, biggest, and toughest Brachydios. And that is the beast punching the "magma" out the ground, when its actually the slime going EVERYWHERE and ready to be activated and detonated. Normal Brachydios are more like grenade explosions than Raging's Missile explosion.

Also Rathalos poisons foes with it's talons, the tail is just a spiky tail club. Rathian has venomous spikes on it's tail.

The weakness to lightning is still up in the air tho so not sure about the skrill still winning or not. Mainly because it's not exactly weak, but more like less resistant to lightning, hence why the Astalos was able to bring it out the air.

Watching Gojiguy try to pronounce these absolute nightmares we call names made my day. I forget how weird they are to newcomers in the franchise.

13:28 its the claws on the legs that delever the venom, not any kind of pincer.
However on Rathian the venom is delivered through the tail spikes

Another strength feat for rathalos, he can pick up and throw glavenus, a metal coated theropod with massive spines and a sword tail

We need JUSTICE for Rathalos🔥💯

Rathalos is pretty downplayed in this scenario.  Assuming Rathalos isn't adept at fighting other aerial creatures simply because it lost against Astalos is wrong.  Astalos is just hyper aggressive and one of Rathalos' direct competitors.  Astalos also has elemental advantage with its thunder element in addition to being one of the most agile of the large flying wyverns of its threat lvl.  Rathalos otherwise is generally considered an apex predator in its environment, and is considered a "5-star" threat lvl along side the regular versions of Astalos, Brachydios, & Lagiacrus.  Speaking of Lagiacrus, Rathalos can even win fights against him despite having elemental advantage in certain scenarios, so having elemental advantage doesn't necessarily mean an automatic loss either.  The fight against the Brachydios also was not a regular Brachydios; that was a Raging Brachydios - aka a much larger, violent, aggressive variant of Brachydios that is one of the strongest non-elder dragon monsters in the entire series, and as such as a higher threat lvl than both Rathalos & regular Brachy.  Then Merphistophelin, being a first-class monster, is stronger than even normal elder dragons, let alone the 5* monsters.  The sizing described here also seems off as Rathalos would be larger than something like the Crimson Goregutter, and therefore wouldn't really have trouble dealing with other creatures of Goregutter's size when Rath can pick up and throw monsters the size of Anjanath and Glavenus (who are also larger than Goregutter).  The only thing Skrill has going for it is elemental advantage, and a slight edge in agility/evasiveness, and if Rathalos can manage to catch it in its talons, I think Skrill would be toast between Rathalos' size advantage, durability, poison talons, and potent (and potentially point blank) fireballs.  Skrill could maaybee still pull the win if Rath is unable to land any hits with fireballs and/or talons and it just cheap shots from a distance the whole time.

The King of the skies and flagship of Monster hunter vs my childhood...🥲im really happy, thank you Goji guy🙂‍↕️.

Fun Fact: The Rathalos from 1-4, World & Rise (dunno about Wilds) are anatomically different to a slight degree. Most notably, World's Rathalos has adapted for dense forest environments, giving it better manoeuvrability.

Also, according to the lore from the early games, Rathalos regularly fight giant eagles.

7:03 he’s weak to the dragon element. Dragon element is basically pure condensed life force as an attack

a thing to note about httyd is every dragon has a limited amount of breath attacks, whereas Rathalos has no limits and doesn't need to eat rocks or use other methods to recharge it, meaning while yes alot of the httyd dragons might be able to take on Rathalos by the end of the day Rathalos would remain supreme solely with the lack of a breath weapon limit.

There is no world where Rathalos looses to the Skrill, it's a simple problem of size, firepower, and shot limits.

1. I did the math of their size, Rathalos's head is larger than the Skrill's torso so if it came down to a physical confrontation the Skrill is being torn to pieces without any counterplay

2. Rathalos can survive the electrical discharge of a Lagiacrus and be stunned for a few seconds before flying off, so unless a Skrill can discharge more electricity than the Lord of the Seas, Rathalos ain't being hurt by it. Not to mention it's considered rivals with Astalos who is basically a bigger, more aggressive Skrill who's only real advantage over Rathalos is higher mobility and the electricity it produces.

3. The Skrill can only fire 4 bolts outside a lightning storm and considering Rathalos is said to be one of the smartest wyverns in his universe it may realize it and just fly out the storm and be fine.

Overall I don't think a normal or even Azure Rathalos is beating toothless as he's shown punching above his weight class, but Silver Rathalos is wiping the floor with the entire bracket mid difficulty

Also some other things I would like to mention are that Merphistophelin is soft canon at best, Shah Dalamadur is approaching black dragon levels of power but isn't one, Elemental weaknesses aren't as affective towards other monsters as one may think (for example Lagiacrus no selling a Rath fireball despite being weak to fire), and Rathalos is only weak to dragon and thunder and has not been weak to water since Gen 1 nor weak to ice since Gen 2

Also I would like to mention, I don't really dislike the video that much, I just think it's very uninformed and would have been better if more care was put into studying MH's lore and ecology

Edit: Dreadking Rathalos is likely a similar level to Silver Rathalos

The Rathalos downplay is crazy.
