Thanks for recommending my Silent Hill Pachislot video <3

Back in high school in 2005, a friend of mine introduced me to Silent Hill 2 and told me Mary fell ill because she cheated on James and got AIDS. I thought that was canon for many years.
Edit: Thanks for all the likes. And yes, It's a true story that makes me laugh every time I think about It.

Something i'll always love about the Alien ending of SH2 is the fact that they didn't bother giving Harry an updated model. Like he just canonically looks like a PS1 model with those Mitten hands and PS1 wobbling and all.

Not sure why exactly, but “James killed Mary” being the very first entry right after the spoiler warning is hilarious

James falls down stairs
sh fanbase: REAL SHIT?!?!?

As the iceberg scrolls by, all I can focus on is “anti-circumcision”

I love how without fail every single time you mention Angela's father you also mention his name, THOMAS OROSCO!

Oh god. I first played this game when I was around 13. Now playing the remake at 32. I inferred enough at age 13 that Angela was a victim of child abuse and depression (something I was also going through at the time). But I had no idea just how far it went and all the symbolism in the game that refers to it. Especially during the boss battle with her monster "father". Ugh. It hurts. This game really is more than a game, it is art and it should be remembered in gaming history for it's story and themes.

I love the measured pace you speak at. I find it easy to follow. I also like during sections like the author street name, that you don't have distracting graphics. Thank you for putting so much thought into not only the content, but the presentation of it as well.

I always interpreted Angela walking on burning stairs, that she is going to hell. But instead of going down to hell, she is going up, which I always thought, was a sign, that Silent Hill is even worse than hell.

I love how the toned down vomiting sounds are still some of the most visceral vomiting sounds you will ever hear

On thing i just thought about. Maybe the reason why Angela is surrounded by fire and dies by it instead of the knife was because fire is supposed to symbolize purification. Like, “burn the witch” but in a different context. She’s going UP into the flames to purify her body of all the shame, guilt, and abuse she suffered. Going up the stairs rather done down a flight could symbolize she’s going to a better place. (unlike James who kept jumping down holes and going down countless endless halls and stairs.) She was a victim. Unlike Eddie who chose to take his pain out on others he dies by the hand of another murder (James) in a cold dark place. And the bodies attached to the sides of the walls could be her parents burning by the very thing that is purifying her assent. Forced to watch as someone they destroyed, heal. All just fan theory but there you go. Crazy how a game like this can have so much speculation.

2010 the first time i played this game, completely alone in my bedroom at night, using headphone, total focus on the game, everything was quiet. Just imagine the jump scare... the biggest of all my life lol

With all the success from SH2R the franchise we are so back. I needed a vid like this, great work.

Silent Hill 2 hits so much harder for me now than it did back when the OG released. Oddly enough, I lost my grandpa just a week before the remake released. He had been in and out of the hospital for the past four years. He was just like Mary. He'd get angry and lash out at my grandmother or he'd become very emotional. He was a completely different man. He didn't even want to leave the house when he was home. My grandmother, on the other hand, experienced frustration and stress from it all. She was a wreck when my grandpa was in the hospital and when he was home, she'd be caring for him constantly and worrying over anything that was remotely unusual for him. I couldn't help but cry after I got the "Leave" ending. Mary's monologue and James confession just made me think back to my grandpa. Mary's words especially made me think this was how my grandpa had felt.

I know it’s not confirmed canon and there are many other possible valid interpretations to have, but I love the idea of the town in some way being sentient. It adds another interesting layer to the game and overall series’ narrative.

I'm glad someone else noticed that the Prison and the Labyrinth are Silent Hill 2's Nowhere, that was my theory for years

This video was definitely worth the wait, now time to do an iceberg video about every other game in the series

I am the creator of this chart, and just now discovered this video. I abandoned the "flymetosaturn" name online so admittedly I can't exactly prove it.

But to answer some of the "why" about this chart:

- The entry about James falling was further down simply because I figured a lot of people didn't know about it, even if it's kind of innocuous.

- The reason for mentioning the "lilith" drawing three times is a bit cringey. There were a few things to infer from it, so I tried to break it apart into different things to create some intrigue early on and then have payoff at the end. But that's just dumb thinking back on it.

- I have no idea why I included the circumcision entry.

- Didn't know about the power surge and deletion of the Eddie scene being one and the same. I could swear I remember reading about some power surge that undid a lot of their work up to that point. And somehow I thought the Eddie scene was a separate incident.

I really did just kind of throw this chart together when I was bored a while back so it's surreal to see Nubzombie do a video on it. I'm not the most knowledgeable on Silent Hill lore, but it feels good to have helped create interest in it. 👍
