Remember, even if that website was on the news many, many times, there are people who got caught for trying to hire a hitman.

25:35 from what I've heard, the only way you'll ever get a nickname like "the reaper" in any armed force is if people start calling you that ironically as a reference to some really embarassing incident.

I wish the people who try to catch a predator would follow this man example. He only does enough to let the police handle the rest.

The differences in sentences are just a combination of a lot things, the person’s history, the variables of why they’re doing it, the perceived potential for them to continue to be dangerous, the laws of the specific state/country they’re in, the separate details of what it is they’re trying to do and on how many victims, how good their lawyer is at arguing their case, and even just the particular proclivities of the judge that got their case
Things are rarely just taken as, ‘this person did the same thing as this person, they get the same sentence’
There are a looootttttt of variables that go through the lengthy court system that are tailored to each individual instance that changes what they’re ultimately sentenced with

19:52 I believe it is because he said, "ill just do it myself when I get out" where as the lady was leaning into the "i was desperate" defense

I am not a lawyer, but I've watched enough Legal Eagle to know that sentencing guidelines are an entire bag of cats

9:40 It's a thing called Poe's Law. Satire and genuine sentences are very hard to distinguish when it's only conveyed by text, so you can never be 100% sure that something is a joke or not if it hasn't been stated as such.

Ok but the curtains ARE blue for a reason. The author made a decision, and it can be worth it to try and understand why they chose blue.

19:50 Sentencing guidelines can vary wildly depending on the state the crime takes place in, or even depending on the individual judge. Some judges are more lenient than others. Some states have a mandatory minimum sentence for certain crimes, while others don't. It's a mix of all of this.

14:47 or like what wavy said when theyre in a certain state of mind that theyll ignore the red flags. THe tax agency here in the uk is called HMRC, my sisters first tax return was incoming when she got a message from "HMRC" saying she got £3000. she nearly went through and gave them their info till she mustve realised something was off and just double checked with dad who put a stop to it. so yeah, you never know what sate of mind you might be in to miss those red flags

Each state has its own laws and jurisdiction as far as judging and passing sentence upon criminals. As such, it does count as extradition if you have to take them across state lines.

Yo, can I hire a hitman to kill my back pain? Had a guy named Aspirin that did a pretty good job, but it was all over the counter and his asking price kept going up.

Hey stella, for your question in 20:20 maybe the bullied womans attempt was classified as a crime of passion? I wont pretend to know much about the american/canadian justice system but where i live, such a thing can seriously reduce sentences especially in a situation like bullying which can be vaguely classified as a twisted form of self defense.
