I was posted to an Army radio station at the top of a hill in the Falklands in 84. In exchange for keeping the telephone link working to their girlfriends in the UK, the Artillery guys at the bottom of the hill would visit us in one of these to give us beer. So BV has always meant Beer Vehicle from that day forward.

Used to run these when I was in the Swedish army back inte the stone age. The quote "Do you think it can...?" will lose all meaning, there is pretty much nothing a BV206 can't do off road really. The testicular fortitude of the driver runs out before the capability of the vehicle.

Old military vehicles are terrifying. Neglected for decades and still more reliable than some modern SUVs.

Whilst posted to the Falklands,  I was duty fitter one night and got called out to the BV206 fire vehicle. It was crippled on the heli-pad and a helicopter was due to land in 15 minutes.  When arrived at the vehicle,  it had blown one of the hydraulic pipes linking the steering system.  We had to drag it off the pad first before we could fix it. Also theres a test track for them which includes a 1:2 hill. That was steep going down lol

You know, I though these two might be magician-grade heavy armour motor pool material, but this level of daft is what the navy pays extra for to run submarines 35:08 knowing how to swim is not so important down there, you just need to be comfortable living in a tube with either a nuclear kettle or bespoke diesel engine, with all the fresh batteries you want, and it is an advantage to be short.  Jack's head is already in the right place with the water wings, there are whole-body variety submarine escape suits now, so you can bail-out from pretty substantial depths, and unlike tanks they have bunks, kitchen, and a toilet.
All to say bravo chaps, that was fantastic.
