I listened to this for the first time with the BBC6 listening party. It was a beautiful sunny spring day and a Sunday and such a beautiful experience lieing on the sofa and experiencing this master pieces for the first time along with people from all over the world. ❤
My respect for a fellow musician and music lover…you’ve fallen in love with a band I discovered with OK Computer when I bought the CD at a random mall kiosk in Minneapolis. MN. Thank god.
This band shaped and transformed my life. Since I discovered them, I’ve discovered new levels of musicality outside of my previous comfort zones, such as classic, rock, progressive, pop and grunge. Nothing compares to their masterful grasp of the “unique”.
Thanks for posting your videos and reactions. Seen multiple, and it often deepens my own understanding with your thoughtful responses. Justifiable, in my humble analysis.
They did Identikit live on Austin City Limits in 2012, 4 years before it was released. Magical. That show is what hooked me, and I highly recommend that you check it out. You can find the complete show in the Radiohead Public Library.
In Daydreaming, the backmasked phrase that Thom repeats is “Half of my life.” I’ve seen them perform the song live, a few times, and each time Thom does it the same way. Towards the end of the song, he verbally speaks “Half of my life” into the microphone a few times, then plays it back, in reverse and with the pitch lowered.
Thom and Rachel Owen got together when Thom was 23 and separated when he was 46. That’s exactly 1/2 of his life. Also, the entire album is symbolic of their separation and the time they had together.
I’ve been waiting for this reaction video. This may be my favorite Radiohead album because you can hear their musical progression over time. Keep up the great reactions!
Really great reaction video. Couple of cool things about this album. The tracks are all in alphabetical order and the first word sung is stay, the last word sung on the album is leave!
With Dreaming for me its that dichotomy between the 4/4 base against the 6/8 (triplet) arpeggio... talk about tapping your head while rubbing your tummy!
