They tried to burn him with torches—the flames died down on their own. They tried to strangle him with a stone around his neck—the stone floated. They threw him to the wild beasts in the Colosseum—the lions licked his feet. They tried to behead him—the sword bent like wax. Saint Pantaleon, a 3rd-century Christian physician in the court of Emperor Galerius, survived everything Rome threw at him—until he himself decided to die after hearing a voice from heaven. And when he was finally beheaded, milk flowed from his veins instead of blood. The olive tree where he was tied blossomed and bore fruit instantly. And to this day—centuries later—his dried blood mysteriously liquefies every July 27th in Ravello, a phenomenon no scientist has been able to explain. This is the story of the saint whom death could not conquer… until he allowed it. Watch until the end!
