Yes! Good point about being feminine as seen  as a weakness. Being feminine is not weak. A black woman can be feminine and be badass at the same time.

I will never get over when darker characters are drawn grey, because the only people who look like that irl are post mortem 💔

Every time someone draws Hyuna feminine an angel grows its wigs

I always get icked out when people masculinize Hyuna in their relationship. People genuinely flip out when she’s drawn in a dress or drawn as a mother. And I hate when Luka is portrayed as this itty bitty mpreg twink. Like hi did we forget Hyuna is a woman. It’d be one thing if she was canonically more tomboy but she loves doing her nails and is constantly in feminine clothing in official art. I love all your points in this video. I love strong femme characters whether male or female.
(Also do people forget being pregnant is an extremely difficult thing to go through?? Like why is THAT associated with weakness)

mizi is often portrayed as the "masculine one" in her relationship with sua and is sometimes even drawn in suits, yet she doesn't get masculinzed as much because she's this cute pale bubbly girl. i get that most of the alst fandom is probably young but the flanderization of characters and relationships is wild. (i also have my own gripes with how hyuluka is portrayed in canon itself but that's a different thing. being a hyuna fan who doesn't care about hyuluka is hard </3)

also thank you for adressing the racism within the series itself, it always felt weird seeing hyuna portrayed in a different skin tone every other time, but i rarely see people talk about it

I’ve noticed a different issue especially on Pinterest. When I’ve seen good Hyuna art (like good shading for skin, not afraid to give Hyuna feminine stuff, etc) but I noticed that Hyuna art would get significantly more hate (not even constructive criticism) than I saw on other art for the other characters. It’s a pattern I’ve seen with a lot of darker skin characters from all the shows I’ve watched. It hurts a lot as a POC whose favorite character is Hyuna!

as a black tomboy, I agree 100% this whole lighting thing reminds me of the Mirko incident in the my hero fandom, I love ALNST and Hyuna and personally I headcanoned her as the one wearing a suit but never have I ever accosiated that with skin color. built the more I think about it, you do have a point where the ratio of Hyuna as the masc compared to her being more femme is like 5:1

This fandom is weird about women and lesbians, period.

One of the best parts of Luka's character is that he's a horrible little nasty fucked up man 😭

(TLDR) Shipping culture gets in the way of individually appreciating characters, getting in the way of how they're portrayed too.

I feel like, outside of colorism, it also boils down to people being creeps about what they think (or want to think) of any character's role in NSFW, even when it's entirely irrelevant.

Hyuna (Sharp fetures, strong personality, likes wearing pants "instead of a dress/skirt" (why is this even a decisive point for women?)) paired with Luka (Frail body, slim figure, "cute" appearance) = Hyuna "has" to be the dominant and flashy one "because" of Luka, so that they can "complete" each other and fulfill a set of stereotypes.

Till (masculine (with no known interest in being effeminate), sharp features, strong personality, slim figure) paired with Ivan (masculine (with an interest in cute things in official art), softer features, deeper voice, taller, immature and clingy, obsessed with Till's will to fight for his life and those he cares for) = Till is expected to be "taken" by Ivan because he's "bratty" and shorter than Ivan. There's an entire niche where people make Till trans (ftm, unoperated) as an entire fetish, which I've never seen mirrored for Mizisua, who are also a gay couple. I've never seen that niche headcanon step up outside of NSFW💔

I feel like Mizisua is the most "normal" in terms of their fanbase, but maybe it's because their fanbase is a lot smaller/quieter? I haven't seen anything of note for Mizisua, other than Mizi being dominant and Sua submissive, which makes sense since they were actually portrayed that way in canon.

Another thing is how people deny Hyuna her victimhood. No matter how terrible what Luka did to her and her brother was, Luka's actions get erased and so does Hyuna's trauma ( Also i might just be bitching and nit picking but i dislike the fact that Hyuna's brother, the second only brown person in the show, was killed off and had little to no character exploration)

Ok the topic of the video is serious (watching it rn) but Luka body being invisible expect his head, hands and feet in the song section is FRYING ME

Speaking about Hyunluka, I saw a post of Hyuna wearing a dress and Luka wearing a suit and people were saying “Luka should be in the dress” “Hyuna should be in a suit” and it literally doesn’t matter at all whatsoever 🫩🫩

Also here, 9:00 it’s really odd because none of the other cast’s skin tones change that much.

I hate luka being pregnant and if there is a fan art of hyuna pregnant the comments are saying luka should be the pregnant one which is annoying, the only reason i looked past her skin tones changing cuz i noticed it was with every other character and it's a big problem that they have, they dont have a consistant colour palette

I WANT TO MENTION SOMETHING!

Okay people tend to push the fact that Luka is the less dominant one because you know, he yearns for Hyuna and just wants to be held by her and such. Makes SOME sense,, right?

NOPE!

Ivan just genuinely wants to be loved and cared for by Till because he’s never really been loved and such.. same kind of relationship that Luka holds for Hyuna, right?? THEN HOW ARE PEOPLE OVER HERE ALL GROSS ABOUT IVAN BEING A TOP?? Sooo if both Ivan and Luka yearn in a similar tone, how come Luka is all twinkified and cutesy but Ivan is a dominant alpha male?? 😭

Because it ties back into the racism of Hyuna 😒

Didn’t finish the video yet, but I feel like people forget the reason why Hyuna is wearing more “masculine” clothes all the time. Shes literally going out and fighting, running, etc. Once Mizi started helping she was also wearing more “masculine” clothes. Feminine is just impractical in the moment for them. But if Hyuna likes feminine clothes and wears it during her free time, and is even shown so in official art, then I don’t see why we’re still fighting over “feminizing” her.

I feel like the whole SA part of hyunluka's dynamic is so so undermined and often pushed under the rug with the defense of heperu's actions towards luka or just some bullshit. Denying a woman of colour her victimhood is odd to me, you can acknowledge what happened to till as SA but refuse to do the same for hyuna? (also the tone around her SA is so dismissive to cocsa victims and that pisses me off as well)

Mizi literally is more masc then Hyuna 🥹✌🏻 LITERALLY THE FIRST THING SHE CHOSE TO WEAR OUTSIDE OF THE SAGE IS MAAAASC 🥹✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻

I love Hyuna sm and feel like people always do downplay Luka's actions, like bro he's so manipulative :/.

9:40 I think for some of it, it's simply the colour pallet. Even the white characters change from yellow to pink frequently. But I don't understand why Hyuna's skin is losing and gaining melanin...
