I find it hilarious when books are clearly trying so hard to be inclusive w/millennial humor & gay dads while still clearly refusing to analyze or even acknowledge things like race.

just realized Foe is also pronounced like Faux. This is why I love Iain reid!!

Shouldve called og junior "senior"

it would have been interesting in the murder book if we found out that the serial killer had more victims than the white women but they werent chosen to be replicated because they werent good enough "victims", but that would require the author to be thinking critically about how crime is treated in our society lol

The horned beetle actually has a subtle haunting significance. At the beginning, there is a big contrast between Hen's visceral disgust at seeing the beetle, while robot Junior seems unnaturally mesmerized by it. At the end, real Junior finds new Hen staring mesmerized at a beetle in the sink and reacts with visceral disgust.

Another animal symbol I noticed was the chickens that Junior is often describing, how he didn't buy them, but he feeds them just out of habit cuz they're part of the barn that's his property. I don't think Hen's name is a coincidence

finished my shift. comfies on. ordered sushi. candle lit. scrapbooking materials out. new frankie video................do not disturb!!!!!!!!

Foe’s plot twist is brilliant but is it as brilliant as “mail character finds antidepressants which indicate their life is broken beyond repair” like we saw in The Midnight Library?

Sidenote before i watcch the entire thing: love that the video just starts. no long unncecessary intros. 1 minute and we are IN

About halfway through the My Murder segment I was CONVINCED the twist would be that whole book has been from the perspective of the killer going through that sci fi VR rehabilitation therapy they mentioned by being put into shoes of his victims, like a really corny version of Prey 2017.

It feels so good when YouTube  recommends something new and I actually like it

Oh shit the Foe ending seems heart dropping. They created another human as what seems like a slave to make their partner happy? Because in the review it sounds like the clone/duplicate is a full thinking human that is gaslit into believing they’re living a way that they chose.

When the world (me) needed you most (I’m going through a breakup), you returned!

Got five minutes in and decided that I very much need to read Foe by Iain Reed and must now fast forward to the second half of the video

Foe felt satisfying to me because while we get all the building blocks to get the whole picture on our own pretty easily, the earlier we guess the artificial humans reveal, the more time within every scene there is to spend on pondering about humanity and noticing signs of Junior growing his own personality.

Currently reading Foe, and every time Terrence talks, I imagine the voice of Mr Milchick from Severance

"You weren't out at night, you were married, you were a mother, you were blameless" what is this author about to ask someone what they were wearing when they got raped next?

[vague spoilers for the twist in foe]

I love how it uses recreated life as a commentary on traditional marriage roles. It really reminded me of a mix between Gone Girl and the video game Soma

19:26 another sign that junior is a junior is that he and hen got married quickly “so she could start over”

i just made the ugliest face when you read the “drinkled” line ughhhhhhhh

this can't be.. a new frankie video.. in time for my shift?
