Ooh, another good Scottish word is ‘outwith’, which other English speakers will say is not real but is a proper, accurate word in Scotland, and I suspect is used in some parts of England near the border. When writing for a broader audience, I always have to check I haven’t included it as it can short-circuit their brains. But it is a really handy word! I also used to get a ruler over my knuckles at primary school about using ‘onto’. My teacher wouldn’t tolerate it and said it was an improper, modern convention we shouldn’t use. Into was a word but onto wasn’t. Now it seems to be everywhere and is accepted by spell checkers. I still struggle with it due to my primary school training and always feel my knuckles tingling!

Hi Vivi. Since you've been talking about correct & incorrect use of grammar, do you realise you said, " this water jug has been sat here for three days...". Shouldn't it be, " this water jug has sat here for three days..." or, " this water jug has been sitting here for three days.." ?

Bob and I watched Big Night several weeks ago and really enjoyed it. So glad your copy arrived!!!! I’m really enjoying hearing all the birdsong in the background of this video. Puts me right back there in your garden! ❤

Your hair looks so cute in a scrunchie! Just got home from my mum’s 90th birthday celebration. Enjoying this video from the comfort of my own bed!

🇨🇦🤗🍻

As a physiologist, my pet peeve is when educated healthcare or science professionals use the phrase ‘blood thinners’ when they mean anticoagulants. Or ‘normal’ when they mean healthy or typical. Pedantic, I know!

Big Night! One of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Enjoy.

Don't worry about the running robots. Just run towards a wall and then quickly turn.

Hi Vivi, loved the tea towels and my Mum and Step Dad live in Bideford, North Devon so I know most of the places on the towel 😊. Vintage tea towels are the best and the softest x

Yes there's a documentary about Mark Boyle somewhere. Must have a look.  👀

Books can transport us to another place and time which is wonderful.

And something I hear (from someone on the bbc!)
I text her yesterday... 😮😮😮

💚💚

Thank you Vivi as always ❤

❤❤❤

Busy, busy, busy...I read every night once I'm in bed.  Best way to settle down, clear my mind in order to fall asleep!  Sometimes it take a few hours, but it works!  Tea towels were so precious when I was younger.  Loved looking at what ever the towel was printed with!

I'm so glad you talked about the misuse and overuse of the word 'literally '  The sheeples just grab onto a trend started by some moron and follow blindly!

I had a room mate 18 years ago (literally), both of us health care professionals and she used to say ‘I tret this patient’.  Literally blew my mind 😁!  She was from Newcastle, we came to agree it was a northern expression but she was sure it was proper English.
In fact I had to just google it and it is a Northern dialect, living in Liverpool and from the Midlands I’m going to say more north and east!

Oh dear Vivi, there is a certain rural area of my county (which is considered fairly rural anyway) where it is quite common to say "tret" instead of treated. A cousin married a man from there and I remember hearing 2 aunties discussing him at the wedding and deciding that he seemed like a nice bloke even if he did talk "a bit country". We townies believed we knew how to talk proper(!) but actually the older locals still say things like "frit" instead of frightened, and heighth (with an extra 'h' on the end). I must admit I hear myself saying some of the colloquialisms from my childhood as I am probably now an older local, even though I have been told that I have quite a neutral accent - probably as a result of various drama and public speaking courses in my late teens. As for the daleks - they first levitated in 1965 (arising out of sand) - and then quite often from the 1980's. Can you tell I used to be a quizzer?😄

Ooooh, pet peeves time, here’s mine…everything these days is a journey. “Follow me on my sketchbook journey” “come with me on my living room makeover journey” “join me on my weight loss journey” honestly, I could scream myself to death. Literally 😂 p.s…my old holey tea towels have been darned 😂
