Saying "This changes everything" for Black Knife is honestly perfect for the turning point for the rest of the story so far is.

Toby probably sleeps like a baby every night knowing he composed these

Black Knife is when the guy you expected to show up in chapter 6 or 7 shows up in chapter 3 and wipes the party.

" I put this below the original Rude buster"
Me: Wait for the bangin drop my man
" I don't know which one i like better now"
Me: Works every time

Fun fact! Raise up your Bat actually has lyrics you just can’t hear them in-game. I can definitely recommend listening to some covers of the song that include them in your free time!

"It sounds like the lament of a ghost..."

Dess-Knight truthers... We got another one.

The fact that he managed to nearly understand the situation where SWORD plays shows how much Toby Fox is so strong at putting symbolism in his music

HE'S GROOVY
AND NEVER GLOOBY!

"lament of a ghost" might actually be sorta close with that guess on black knife, if the person this theme's for is who we think it is...

28:14 Bro got consumed by the dark fountain.

Knowing that Ruder Buster exists, that at the end of chapter 3 everything becomes more serious and that the battle theme in chapter 4 is called "From now on" makes me feel like Ruder Buster was saying goodbye to the excitement of "Hey, let's go on an adventure 😁" to "We came to save the world, not to play"

29:22 AND NEVER GLOOBY!!

17:03 raise up my what?

he is going to be amazed by Third Sanctuary

"it sounds like the lament of a ghost" wow. okay. Alright. Yeah not it's fine. Wow.

44:55 you could say the composer took a........ weird route.........

the amount of correct analysis you make in this video is actually incredible. especially for SWORD talking about something that isn't supposed to happen/be there, lurking in the shadows at 40:25 is far more on point that you realise

One thing you didn’t touch on (understandably, since you really have to listen for it deliberately), is the reuse of leitmotifs throughout all these songs.

For example:
The saxophone part that plays at 1:04 (in this video, not the original OST upload) in “And Now For Today’s Sponsors” is basically a certain character’s main motif, and pops up throughout all of chapter 3.

In “Paradise, Paradise”:
14:32 the high part (which is repeated)
15:27 the main melody

In “Doom Board”:
26:25 main melody (also repeated)

In “TV World”:
30:25 the saxophone part (repeated)

In “TV Time!”:
32:22 main melody (repeated)
33:42 the really high chiptune that enters
33:55 main melody (repeated)

In “SWORD”:
39:29 the main melody (but minor)
It’s reused and reharmonized throughout the entire song.

Green Room’s melody is also reused during TV World at 30:11

And some other facts about “TV Time!”:
33:17 is a direct reference to Doom Board, as you noticed.

33:30 is actually a separate motif (“HEY EVERY!”) which appears in a number of other tracks, though not any that you’ve listened to on the channel.

Black Knife is sorta meant to be a jarring interruption, so it uses a completely unrelated motif from chapter 1 (The Door/The Chase).

Also, without spoiling anything, the reason a bunch of these sound more retro/8-bit is that they’re connected to a “game within a game” that’s heavily inspired by old school Zelda.

You understood SWORD and BURNING EYES so well thats crazy
