"This is my word and thus is beyond contestation" one of my favorite line deliveries in film.

The film’s title was actually based on the real Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Knight’s Tale, the first story from his most famous work, The Canterbury Tales, written in the 14th Century.

"Sir William Thatcher, your father heard that."

That line delivery always gets me

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the amazing performance of the late Christopher Cazenove as John Thatcher, William's father. If his acting during the reunion scene doesn't pull at your heartstrings, you must be made of stone.

Someone once described this movie as "a medieval sports movie", and with the music choices, I think it is the best description. They are just the modern versions of the songs that would have been played back then.

This is one of those "Viggo broke his toe" things, but the actor playing Roland kinda saved the scene when he started cheering. The movie was shot in some eastern European country and the extras didn't understand English, so they had no idea it was time to start cheering after Chaucer's speech, but they caught on when "Roland" gave the cue. :)

Verowak, you have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found reacting. I enjoyed your reaction to A Knight's Tale, it is one of my favourite films.

One of the things I like the most is that Edward knows the ‘true’ value of things and people.
He sees that William truly does embody the spirit of a knight, despite his birth.

I saw somewhere that the music was done this way because of the feeling the music portrays. Back then the latest music they had would be to them as our latest music is to us, so they used modern music to show how everyone would have felt about the music that would have been actually playing. (I hope that made sense!)

We miss ya, Heath.

The favor he did for the prince was not jousting while knowing who he was, it was letting him finish honorably after being injured in the previous tournament, before he knew he was the prince.

My family is very proud of this movie because this is my cousins film debut❤Shannyn Sossamon. I remember not seeing her since she was about 10 and then seeing her in this at 19. I was blown away at how much she looked like her father and she does such a great job for her film debut❤❤❤❤

There's another movie that has Heath Ledger, Mary Addy and Shannyn Sossamon. It's a supernatural suspense thriller, called "The Order". Ledger and Addy play priests of a small, obscure Catholic order, devoted to fighting demons.

"In what world could you have ever beaten me?"

Everyone talks about this film in regards to Heath Ledger, and they are not wrong. This film stands as a testament to what he had to offer as a lead.

But, Paul Bettany is honestly the standout actor in this film. He plays the character that makes you both laugh the most with amazing line delivery, but also takes you to the edge of tears with clear on screen emotional delivery.

Not so fun fact but roofers (the modern version of a thatcher) do have a higher risk of blindness from the long hours on rooftops during the day. With little shade and periodic reflections they get a lot of sun exposure every day and can be hard on the eyes.
